Job Summary: The Reformer Pilates Instructor is responsible for providing safe, effective, engaging, and professionally delivered Pilates instruction to FIT EVO members and guests. This position may provide introductory classes, group apparatus classes, and private or semi-private Pilates sessions as scheduled by management. The Instructor demonstrates knowledge of Pilates principles, anatomy, body mechanics, equipment safety, and appropriate exercise modifications. The Instructor must be able to observe multiple participants during a class and provide appropriate modifications, regressions, or progressions based upon individual abilities while maintaining a safe and organized group environment. The Reformer Pilates Instructor also serves as an ambassador for FIT EVO by creating positive member experiences, building professional relationships, maintaining studio standards, participating in professional development, and contributing to a welcoming and inclusive fitness community.
Operational Responsibilities:
1. Provide safe, effective, and engaging Pilates instruction, including introductory classes, group apparatus classes, and private or semi-private training sessions as assigned.
2. Prepare and deliver organized classes that align with FIT EVO's Pilates programming, instructional standards, and member experience expectations.
3. Demonstrate skilled and safe use of Pilates and fitness equipment utilized during instruction, including at minimum the Pilates reformer, hand weights, and magic circle. Experience and training using additional equipment such as the Pilates chair, springboard, and tower is preferred.
4. Conduct a brief verbal participant readiness check at the beginning of each class or session, including asking about known injuries, physical limitations, or concerns that may affect participation.
5. Provide appropriate modifications, regressions, and progressions within the Instructor's training and professional scope for participants with varying fitness levels, abilities, and physical limitations.
6. Maintain awareness of all participants during class and provide clear verbal instruction, demonstrations, safety cues, and technique corrections as appropriate.
7. Promote proper form, alignment, equipment use, and safe movement throughout each class or session.
8. Recognize when a participant's needs or condition may fall outside the Instructor's training or professional scope and appropriately recommend that the participant discontinue or modify an activity.
9. Visually inspect reformers and other equipment before each class or session to identify apparent damage, malfunction, or other safety concerns.
10. Immediately discontinue use of equipment that appears unsafe and notify management of equipment requiring inspection, maintenance, repair, or replacement.
11. Ensure equipment is returned to its designated location and that the studio is maintained in a clean, organized, and professional condition following each class or session.
12. Arrive at least [insert number] minutes prior to each scheduled class or session to prepare the studio, equipment, and instructional environment.
13. Assist with participant check-in and accurately record or verify class attendance in accordance with studio procedures.
14. Maintain familiarity with and appropriately use FIT EVO's scheduling, booking, attendance, and member management systems.
15. Maintain current knowledge of FIT EVO programs, promotions, studio activities, and member services.
16. Participate in staff meetings, required trainings, workshops, and professional development activities as scheduled.
17. Participate in community outreach, networking, promotional activities, demonstrations, open houses, or other special events as requested to support awareness of FIT EVO and Pilates programming.
18. Communicate member questions, concerns, equipment issues, incidents, injuries, or other significant matters promptly to the Studio Manager or General Manager.
19. Follow established safety, emergency response, injury response, and incident-reporting procedures.
20. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with members and clients.
21. Protect confidential information regarding members, employees, and FIT EVO business operations.
22. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, professionalism, dependability, and respect in interactions with members, coworkers, and management.
23. Work collaboratively with other instructors, studio employees, front desk staff, personal trainers, and management to support a positive member experience.
24. Perform other related duties reasonably associated with the position and FIT EVO's Pilates operations.

Required Education and Experience:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Completion of a recognized Reformer Pilates instructor training or certification program that includes anatomy and body mechanics, Pilates movement principles, reformer equipment use and safety, class programming, exercise modification, and supervised instruction or practical teaching experience.
3. Demonstrated competency in safely and effectively providing reformer-based Pilates instruction.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, alignment, body mechanics, and safe movement practices.
5. Ability to provide appropriate modifications, regressions, and progressions for participants with varying abilities within the same class.
6. Experience providing apparatus-based Pilates instruction in a group environment preferred.
7. Experience instructing classes of six (6) or more participants preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Comprehensive Pilates apparatus certification.
2. Training, certification, or demonstrated experience involving additional Pilates equipment such as chair, springboard, tower, or other Pilates apparatus.
3. Experience providing private and/or semi-private Pilates instruction.
4. Previous experience working in a Pilates studio, fitness facility, health club, wellness center, or other member-service environment.
5. Additional education or continuing education in anatomy, movement science, exercise science, corrective exercise, injury prevention, or related areas.
Required Certifications:
1. Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain certification within the timeframe established by FIT EVO.
2. CPR and First Aid certification must be maintained throughout employment.
3. Employees are responsible for maintaining any Pilates certifications or credentials required by FIT EVO or necessary to perform the duties of the position.

Professional Development:
FIT EVO values instructors who are committed to continued learning and professional growth. Reformer Pilates Instructors are expected to remain current in Pilates education, movement principles, equipment safety, and FIT EVO instructional standards. Instructors may be required to participate in continuing education, workshops, studio training, staff development, or other educational activities established by FIT EVO. Employees are also expected to maintain all certifications and credentials necessary for their position.

Safety and Incident Reporting:
Reformer Pilates Instructors are expected to maintain a safety-conscious environment at all times. Any participant injury, equipment malfunction, accident, safety concern, or unusual incident occurring during a class or session must be promptly communicated to management and documented in accordance with FIT EVO procedures. Instructors should not diagnose injuries, medical conditions, or provide medical advice. When appropriate, participants should be encouraged to consult with an appropriate healthcare professional regarding conditions or limitations that may affect participation.
Relationship to Organization:
Reports to the Studio Manager and/or General Manager, as designated by FIT EVO. The position works collaboratively with Pilates instructors, group fitness staff, front desk employees, personal training staff, management, and other FIT EVO employees to provide consistent operations and a positive member experience.
