Hotel General Manager – Wyndham Property Experience

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Hotel General Manager to oversee the daily operations, financial performance, guest satisfaction, staff management, and overall success of our hotel.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience managing a Wyndham-branded property, with a strong understanding of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts standards, brand compliance requirements, quality assurance, guest service expectations, and operational procedures.
The General Manager will be responsible for leading the hotel team, maintaining high operating standards, increasing occupancy and revenue, controlling expenses, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesHotel Operations
- Oversee all day-to-day hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, breakfast, and guest services.
- Ensure the property consistently meets or exceeds Wyndham brand standards and operating requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, well-maintained, and guest-ready property.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, and exterior grounds.
- Identify operational issues and take immediate corrective action.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, Wyndham requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Staff Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate hotel employees.
- Develop a strong service-oriented team and maintain high employee accountability.
- Create and manage employee schedules while controlling labor costs.
- Address attendance, performance, and disciplinary issues professionally and consistently.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and provide ongoing training.
- Lead by example and maintain a professional, positive work environment.
Revenue & Financial Management
- Monitor occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, room revenue, and overall hotel profitability.
- Develop strategies to increase occupancy and maximize room revenue.
- Monitor daily revenue and adjust pricing and availability strategies as needed.
- Control labor, operating, and supply expenses.
- Review financial reports, budgets, payroll, and operating expenses.
- Work with ownership to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
- Identify opportunities to increase direct bookings, corporate accounts, group business, and long-term stays.
Guest Experience
- Maintain a high level of guest satisfaction and respond promptly to guest concerns.
- Personally handle escalated guest complaints and resolve issues professionally.
- Monitor online reviews and reputation across major booking and review platforms.
- Develop strategies to improve guest reviews, ratings, repeat business, and overall customer satisfaction.
Wyndham Brand & Compliance
- Maintain familiarity with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts brand standards, programs, and operational requirements.
- Prepare the property for Wyndham inspections and quality assurance reviews.
- Ensure deficiencies identified through inspections are corrected promptly.
- Maintain required documentation, records, training, and operational procedures.
- Work effectively with Wyndham representatives, franchise support teams, and other corporate contacts.
Sales & Business Development
- Develop relationships with local businesses, hospitals, construction companies, government agencies, sports organizations, and other potential corporate/group accounts.
- Pursue local contracts, negotiated rates, group bookings, and direct-bill opportunities.
- Monitor the local competitive market and adjust hotel strategies accordingly.
- Work with ownership to develop new revenue opportunities.
Maintenance & Property Standards
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure timely completion of repairs.
- Monitor preventative maintenance programs.
- Ensure guest rooms and public areas remain in excellent condition.
- Work with outside vendors and contractors when necessary.
- Maintain appropriate safety, security, fire prevention, and emergency procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of hotel management experience, preferably in a General Manager or Assistant General Manager role.
- Previous experience managing a Wyndham-branded hotel/property is strongly preferred and may be required.
- Strong knowledge of hotel front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, revenue management, and guest-service operations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate employees.
- Experience with hotel financials, budgeting, payroll, labor control, and expense management.
- Strong understanding of hotel occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and revenue-management principles.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays when required.
- Proficiency with hotel PMS systems and standard office software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous General Manager experience at a Wyndham, Super 8, Days Inn, Travelodge, Ramada, Baymont, Microtel, or other Wyndham-affiliated property.
- Experience successfully completing Wyndham quality assurance/brand inspections.
- Experience improving hotel guest reviews and overall property performance.
- Experience managing limited-service or economy/midscale hotels.
- Strong local sales and business-development experience.
- Experience working directly with hotel ownership.

Compensation
Salary: Competitive and based on experience and qualifications.
Additional Compensation: Performance-based bonus opportunities may be available based on hotel revenue, profitability, guest satisfaction, brand compliance, and other operational performance metrics.
