A day in the life:
Calculate and verify material quantities, equipment costs and labor costs.
Check grades and other engineering calculations for construction projects, contract change orders, extra work orders and other types of orders.
Interpret contract plans and specifications to maintain project test summary for non-field tested materials and to ensure contract compliance for projects.
Verify quality assurance, quantity documentation and general contract administration requirements are met.
Review, record and track contractor submittals and project documentation.
Prepare monthly progress estimates of payment and verify contractor payrolls.
Report and coordinate contract work.
Inspect sampling and testing procedures and confirm technician’s certifications.
Provide expertise on testing procedures and resolve issues.
Perform complex engineering calculations.
Hybrid work options available – will require being in the office a few days a week.
Work is performed 50% of the time in the field and requires moving around rough terrain, working in inclement weather, lifting up to 50 pounds, long hours and being on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including holidays.

The salary range listed is the non-PERS monthly salary range. If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible, the salary range will increase by 6%.

Minimum qualifications:
Three years of experience in the field of engineering related to construction contract administration, construction inspection, materials inspection and/or testing;
OR
An associate degree in the field of engineering (civil or transportation-related) and one year of engineering technician experience;
OR
A bachelor’s degree in the field of engineering (civil or transportation-related);
OR
An equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
Note: Related experience, education, and training can include, but is not limited to biology, construction management, construction project management, chemistry, construction engineering, forestry, inspection, permitting, geography, geology, geomatics, mathematics, physics, remote sensing and/or urban planning
Special qualifications:
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
