PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Information Technology (IT) Manager is responsible for the IT Department's day-to-day operations, managing assigned IT department staff, IT expenditures, and strategically delegating IT resources for all projects, systems, and services requiring IT involvement. The IT Manager will help guide IT staff and City departments in the successful implementation of new technologies through the City of Redmond's computing environment(s). The IT Manager must stay abreast of and plan integration with evolving technology, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance requirements.

IT Operation Support

Oversee day-to-day operations of IT staff.

Adapt technology solutions to meet the changing needs of the organization.

Coordinate security assessments and incident response procedures.

Provide governance to technology platforms and oversight of regulatory and cybersecurity requirements.

Provide strategic oversight to the City's IT equipment, platforms, tools, and solutions and their renewals, upgrades, migrations, and integrations.

Work in a team-oriented environment and act as back-up in absence of other IT team members.

Use a security-minded approach to adoption of technology solutions and services into the City's computing environment.

Other related duties as assigned.
Project Management
-
Provide project scoping, delegation, and oversight of project execution.

Manage IT projects within budget and timelines.

Maintain IT Department project calendaring and project prioritization with IT staff.

Procure hardware, software, and services in accordance with Oregon State procurement guidelines and city policies.

Assist City departments with aligning their goals and processes to technology-based solutions.

Coordinate IT staff resources to meet interdepartmental city needs.
Team Management and Development

Manage designated IT staff, which includes scheduling, training, prioritizing and delegating work, and evaluating performance.

Provide professional development guidance to IT Department staff.

Ensure effective utilization of IT Service Management tools and IT workflows to track IT performance and generate key metrics.

Participate in recruitment process of IT staff.

Participate in professional groups, committees and task teams as assigned or as otherwise necessary.

Maintain professional networks and attend training sessions and conferences as necessary to advance skills and keep abreast of issues and practices in all areas of responsibility.
Budget and Resource Management

Assist IT Director with planning the IT Department's annual budget and provide oversight of expenditures.

Create metrics to be utilized for planning the IT Department staffing structure and staffing capacity needs.

Generate and maintain required IT policies.

Participate in various planning exercises related to cybersecurity and continuing operations planning.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Work is performed under the general direction of the IT Director who holds the employee accountable for achieving department and division goals and objectives.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides complete supervision of assigned employees including guiding, directing, and motivating, oversight and authority for assignments, and reviewing work and evaluating performance to comply with policies and procedures.
