CNC Machinery Sales Specialist
Industrial Equipment Sales | CNC Plasma Cutting Systems | Fabrication & Manufacturing
Location: Bend, Oregon
About Arclight Dynamics
Arclight Dynamics is a leading U.S. manufacturer of industrial CNC plasma cutting systems used by fabrication shops, manufacturers, contractors, educational facilities, and production operations throughout the United States and internationally.
Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Bend, Oregon, Arclight Dynamics designs, manufactures, sells, and supports CNC cutting machinery built for real-world metal fabrication and production environments.
We are seeking a motivated, competitive, and technically minded CNC Machinery Sales Specialist to join our Bend-based sales team.
This is a consultative industrial equipment sales position. Our Sales Specialists work directly with customers to understand their fabrication requirements, production goals, applications, and budget, then configure and recommend the appropriate CNC plasma cutting system and related equipment.
Previous CNC plasma experience is not required. We will train the right salesperson on our machinery, applications, software, and fabrication processes. However, candidates must have the aptitude and motivation to learn technical products and become comfortable discussing industrial machinery with customers.
What You'll Do
The CNC Machinery Sales Specialist is responsible for developing opportunities from initial customer inquiry through equipment selection, quoting, closing, and handoff to production and support.
Responsibilities include:
- Consult with manufacturers, fabricators, contractors, small businesses, and other prospective customers interested in CNC plasma cutting equipment.
- Handle inbound sales calls, website inquiries, referrals, distributor opportunities, and other qualified sales leads.
- Conduct timely and persistent follow-up with prospects throughout the equipment purchasing process.
- Identify customer requirements including material type, material thickness, table size, production volume, cutting applications, available power, compressed air requirements, and future growth needs.
- Recommend appropriate CNC plasma tables, plasma power supplies, software, accessories, options, and machine configurations.
- Develop professional equipment quotations and proposals.
- Explain machine capabilities, specifications, features, options, pricing, lead times, and return-on-investment considerations.
- Maintain ownership of assigned opportunities from initial inquiry through closed sale.
- Prospect and develop new business opportunities in addition to managing inbound leads.
- Build relationships with distributors, dealers, partners, and end users.
- Utilize our CRM daily to maintain customer records, document communication, manage opportunities, schedule follow-up activities, and maintain an accurate sales pipeline.
- Utilize our ERP system to prepare quotations, sales orders, and related sales documentation.
- Maintain accurate deal stages, lead disposition, next steps, and expected close dates.
- Learn to operate Arclight Dynamics CNC plasma cutting systems and understand the fundamentals of the plasma cutting process.
- Conduct live CNC machine demonstrations for prospective customers.
- Host virtual equipment demonstrations and sales consultations using Microsoft Teams and other communication platforms.
- Conduct in-person demonstrations at our Bend, Oregon facility.
- Assist with customer equipment orientation and training when appropriate.
- Develop a working understanding of CNC controls, CAD/CAM software, plasma cutting technology, consumables, accessories, and machine options.
- Coordinate with Production, Technical Support, Engineering, Marketing, and Management throughout the sales process.
- Participate in ongoing product and technical sales training.
- Attend occasional trade shows, industry events, distributor meetings, and customer visits.
- Contribute customer and market feedback regarding product improvements, competitive positioning, pricing, and new equipment opportunities.
Consultative Equipment Sales
Selling CNC machinery is different from transactional retail sales.
Our customers are making a significant investment in equipment that can directly impact their production capacity, labor requirements, operating costs, quality, throughput, and profitability.
Successful Sales Specialists learn how to ask the right questions before recommending a machine.
You will be expected to understand the customer's current production environment, identify problems or limitations, and help determine how the appropriate Arclight Dynamics system can improve their operation.
This requires the ability to sell based on application, capability, productivity, value, and ROI—not simply price.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate combines strong sales ability with the curiosity and aptitude required to understand technical machinery.
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Strong consultative sales and closing skills.
- Competitive drive and motivation to exceed sales goals.
- Excellent listening and discovery skills.
- Ability to build trust and credibility with customers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Consistent and disciplined customer follow-up.
- Ability to manage multiple active opportunities simultaneously.
- Strong pipeline management and organizational skills.
- Personal accountability and ownership of sales results.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Comfort discussing pricing and asking for the sale.
- Ability to learn technical products, specifications, applications, and related software.
- Willingness to become hands-on with CNC machinery and learn how our equipment actually operates.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications.
- Ability to effectively utilize CRM and ERP systems as part of the daily sales process.

Monthly bonus and commission incentives are available after the initial 90-day training and introductory period.
Uncapped Commission Potential
High-performing Sales Specialists have the opportunity to significantly increase their earnings through an uncapped commission structure.

Who Will Be Successful Here?
We are looking for someone who enjoys selling, learning machinery, talking with customers, and winning business.
You should be comfortable moving between a customer conversation, an equipment quote, CRM pipeline management, and a live CNC machine demonstration.
You do not have to come from the CNC plasma industry. But you must be willing to learn the equipment well enough to have credible conversations with fabricators, business owners, manufacturing professionals, and equipment buyers.
If you are competitive, technically curious, accountable, persistent with follow-up, and motivated by uncapped earning potential, this position provides an opportunity to build a career selling industrial CNC machinery.
