Mechanical Designer / Drafter – SolidWorks

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; technical degree or additional CAD/design education preferred
Proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modeling, assemblies, and production drawings
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, customer drawings, and technical specifications
Understanding of dimensions, tolerances, and basic manufacturing practices
Experience creating clear, accurate drawings for production
Familiarity with sheet metal design, flat patterns, bend allowances, and formed components preferred
Ability to design parts with real-world manufacturing and fabrication processes in mind
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines
Good problem-solving skills and ability to work through design or manufacturing challenges
Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with customers, management, and shop personnel
Comfortable making revisions based on production feedback, customer changes, or design requirements
Basic computer proficiency and ability to organize and manage drawing files and project documentation
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout a manufacturing environment as needed
Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Dependable, punctual, team-oriented, and willing to learn and grow with the company

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment
Experience designing laser-cut, formed, welded, or fabricated components
Knowledge of stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel fabrication
Familiarity with GD&T and manufacturing tolerances
Experience taking a project from concept or customer drawing through production
Experience working directly with fabrication teams to resolve design or production issues

Mechanical Designer / Drafter – SolidWorks

Mechanical Designer / Drafter with SolidWorks experience to help take projects from an idea, sketch, or customer concept to something we can manufacture.

This position will work onsite closely with our shop and customers to create accurate drawings, models, and production-ready files. Experience with sheet metal design and an understanding of real-world manufacturing and fabrication is highly valuable.

We’re looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable solving problems, and understands that a good design has to work both on the computer screen and on the shop floor.
