Full Job Description

The company is family owned that has been in business for more than 70 years and is focused on continued growth and expansion. Leader in heavy highway general contracting which includes public work projects, aviation, and railroad. The commitment to excellence and safety on every project is of the utmost importance.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with the entire preconstruction team in various capacities.
Accurately estimate projects from conceptual through construction document phases.
Present Value Engineering ideas when required.
Maintain and build strong relationships with subcontractors, clients, owners, and consultants.
Interpret and accurately compare contractor proposals.
Prepare quantity surveys for most construction trade work.
Assist in maintaining historical cost database and as well as subcontractor database.
Negotiate, award and write subcontracts.
Accurately estimate general condition costs as well as preliminary scheduling.
Ensure that project activities are carried out on-time, and within budget while complying with Federal, State and Local regulations and/ore policies.
Perform project management tasks, as needed, based on company backlog.

Requirements and Skills:

Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, Construction or Construction Management preferred, but experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and processes.
Must be able to clearly and effectively present detailed information in meetings.
Strong organizational and planning skills and ability to prioritize and multitask.
Understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities.
Ability to read blueprints and project scheduling.
Demonstrate computer proficiency in MS Office Suites and ability to adapt to new innovations and processes such as HCSS Heavy Bid
Strong leadership qualities
Ability to communicate verbal and written with clients, general contractors/CMARs, subcontractors and engineers.

Work Environment:

This job is performed both in the office and in the field. Field work requires experience working around heavy industrial equipment. You may be subject to, but not limited to, lifting, crouching, kneeling, balancing, walking and sedentary work.
