WAGE: $13.77 per hour, paid bi-weekly

The hygiene monitor is responsible for providing a clean, sanitary, comfortable, orderly, and satisfying environment for clients, staff, volunteers, and the public who use the day/resource center. The hygiene monitor promotes sanitary conditions to help prevent the spread of infection at the facility while guests are using the showers and laundry services and work with clients to meet their basic needs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Maintains facility in a sanitary and infectionfree condition through washing, cleaning, and wiping of equipment and furnishings. Sweep and wet mops floors in hallways, bathrooms, and shower area. Clean basins, toilets, mirrors, and showers regularly.

Take guest laundry; wash and dry guest laundry and return before the end of the day. Label all guest items.

Sign guests up for laundry service and shower service. Maintains order with guests who are waiting for services.

Assist guests who request donations of toiletry items.

Must handle carious cleaning solutions, chemicals, etc. Must comply with all regulations, including OSHA, EPA, State Health Department, etc.

Clean showers, bathrooms, and laundry area throughout the day and before the end of the shift.

Ensure appropriate forms are completed for laundry and showers.

Work with volunteers on ordering supplies and volunteering in laundry and showers.

Works with other members of the staff and volunteers while on shift.

Undertakes any other duties that may be required which are commensurate with the role.

Stays informed of current local and national events, trends, and issues (wherever possible) that impact Depaul USA’s work with the homeless.

Strives continuously to develop the role in collaboration with the supervisor to ensure that all tasks are undertaken effectively and appropriately, meeting the strategic goals and objectives of Depaul USA.

Participates in internal/external meetings as required and attends training events, conferences, and other functions as necessary. Participates in regular supervision and annual appraisal and helps in identifying your jobrelated development and training needs.

Ensures adherence to all Depaul USA policies and procedures, particularly those relating to Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Code of Practice, and Confidentiality.

Contributes to the effective implementation of Depaul USA’s Equal Opportunities Policy as it affects both the organization and its work with this client group.

Undertakes the role professionally, always maintaining a highquality work standard and always working in accordance with the Vision, Mission, and Values of Depaul USA.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions. Heavy tasks may require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. Physical effort includes frequent walking, stooping, bending, reaching, standing, crawling, climbing, kneeling and sitting for long periods of time. At times may be required to use respiratory filtration and personal protection devices. Exposure to cleaning agents and chemicals.
The ideal Hygiene Monitor will be a professional with at least one year of experience and a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment. Additional qualifications include:

High School Diploma or GED

Has a strong work ethic and pays attention to detail;

Embodies the values of the organization, including accountability, responsibility, and respect for others;

Is able to take direction and be flexible;

Has good oral communication skills and excel in a team environment;
