TruCare Pharmacy is a long-term care pharmacy serving skilled nursing, assisted living, rehabilitation, and specialty care facilities throughout Arkansas. We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse Consultant to serve as a clinical and professional representative of TruCare Pharmacy within our client facilities.
This is a field-based position focused on strengthening the relationship between TruCare Pharmacy and the nursing facilities we serve. The Nurse Consultant serves as an important link between the pharmacy and facility leadership, nursing staff, and clinical teams.
The Nurse Consultant will spend significant time in our client facilities, developing strong relationships, understanding facility needs, identifying concerns, and helping ensure that pharmacy services are meeting the expectations of the facilities and the residents they serve.
A key responsibility of this position is to identify, communicate, and help resolve issues related to TruCare's pharmacy services. The Nurse Consultant acts as the eyes and ears of the pharmacy in the facilities, bringing concerns back to the TruCare team and working collaboratively with pharmacy leadership and facility staff to find effective solutions.
This position combines nursing expertise, clinical consultation, education, regulatory knowledge, quality improvement, customer relationship management, and pharmacy-service oversight.
About the Position
This is a field-based clinical consulting and relationship-management position with a significant travel component.
The Nurse Consultant will conduct regular on-site visits to client facilities throughout Arkansas, including monthly visits to assigned nursing facilities. These visits are an essential part of the role and are designed to maintain strong relationships, identify opportunities for improvement, provide clinical support, and ensure effective communication between the facility and TruCare Pharmacy.
The Nurse Consultant will generally spend one day per week working from the TruCare Pharmacy office, with the remainder of the work schedule focused on facility visits, clinical consultation, education, audits, quality improvement, relationship management, and issue resolution.
Travel will include both day trips and overnight trips, and the amount and type of travel will vary from month to month based on facility locations, scheduling, and client needs. Candidates should be comfortable with frequent statewide driving and overnight travel and understand that travel will comprise a substantial portion of the position.
The pharmacy is located in the Fort Smith area, and candidates who live in or near Fort Smith are preferred. However, qualified candidates from other areas of Arkansas will be considered. The candidate's home location will influence the amount of driving and overnight travel required.
Key ResponsibilitiesFacility Relationships & Pharmacy Representation
- Serve as a primary clinical and professional liaison between TruCare Pharmacy and client facilities.
- Develop and maintain strong, trusted relationships with facility administrators, directors of nursing, nursing staff, and other clinical leaders.
- Represent TruCare Pharmacy professionally during facility visits, meetings, consultations, and educational programs.
- Regularly assess facility satisfaction with TruCare's pharmacy services and identify opportunities to strengthen the pharmacy-facility relationship.
- Serve as a consistent point of contact for facility leadership regarding clinical and pharmacy-service concerns.
- Build trust with facility staff so that concerns and opportunities for improvement are identified early and addressed proactively.
Pharmacy Service Oversight & Problem Resolution
- Identify issues, concerns, and service gaps involving TruCare Pharmacy during facility visits.
- Investigate pharmacy-related concerns and work collaboratively with facility staff and TruCare team members to understand the underlying issue.
- Communicate facility concerns clearly and promptly to pharmacy leadership and the appropriate members of the TruCare team.
- Help coordinate and follow through on solutions to pharmacy-service issues.
- Monitor recurring problems and identify opportunities to improve pharmacy processes and service.
- Advocate for both the facility and the pharmacy by helping ensure clear communication, appropriate follow-up, and timely resolution of concerns.
- Identify trends across facilities that may indicate opportunities for broader pharmacy-service improvements.
- Follow up with facilities to ensure that identified concerns have been addressed and that solutions are effective.
Clinical & Nursing Support
- Provide nursing expertise related to medication therapy, medication administration, documentation, and medication management.
- Review medication-related concerns and collaborate with pharmacists, physicians, nursing leadership, and facility administrators.
- Assist facilities with medication management programs and pharmacy services.
- Provide clinical guidance and support related to medication safety and resident care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and facility consultations.
- Serve as a clinical resource for facility nursing staff and leadership.
Quality Improvement & Regulatory Support
- Conduct facility audits and assessments to identify opportunities for quality improvement and enhanced resident safety.
- Support medication error reduction and medication safety initiatives.
- Support controlled substance compliance and medication management processes.
- Assist with infection prevention and infection control initiatives.
- Provide education regarding applicable state and federal regulations and long-term care best practices.
- Help facilities identify opportunities to improve compliance, documentation, medication management, and resident safety.
- Maintain accurate audit findings, reports, records, and facility documentation.
Education & Staff Development
- Educate nursing staff on medication-related issues, pharmacy processes, best practices, and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Provide education based on trends or concerns identified during facility visits.
- Assist with developing educational programs that address common medication or pharmacy-service issues.
- Promote effective communication between facility nursing staff and the pharmacy.
QualificationsRequired
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience.
- Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, assisted living, rehabilitation, or geriatric care.
- Strong understanding of state and federal nursing facility regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with nurses, pharmacists, physicians, administrators, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage a schedule across multiple facilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Arkansas.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
