Uni Health is searching for a front office Medical Assistant!

Job Description

Unif Health, a small clinic in Berkeley, CA is urgently looking for a self-motivated, and experienced and Certified Phlebotomist/front office Medical Assistant, who possesses that much sought balance of competency, Multi-tasking and compassion.

As our Certified Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant, you are a critical member of the clinic team! You will engage directly with our patients and work to an exceptional patient experience by performing a wide variety of clinical and front desk tasks to support patient care delivery. You will be provided with the opportunity to cross-train in other areas of the clinic and will be able to use your problem-solving skills to overcome challenges in a fast-paced environment. Your duties will be delegated and supervised by the Provider (Physician/Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant).

The ideal candidate is one who is comfortable working in a small clinic consisting of only the Medical Examiner (PA) and Phlebotomist. Cross trained to complete the patient registration process and front office procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Communicating with patients, front desk and clinical staff, and providers. Answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, responding to emails.

2. Recording patient history and personal information.

3. Entering patient information into the software system.

4. Performs general clinical duties to ensure good patient flow. These duties include, but are not limited to: Triaging patients, injections, EKG, Ear Lavage. (Full list of duties and responsibilities are on our website.)

5. Cross train to complete the patient registration process and front office procedures.

6. Maintain HIPAA standards and confidentiality regarding patient personal and financial information.

7. Perform DOT drug and alcohol testing.

8. Perform specimen collection including urine, nasal swab,oral samples.

9. Collect blood samples from patients.

10. Centrifuge and aliquot samples as needed.

11. Pulmonary Function Test.

12. Audiometric Test (Hearing Test)

13. Physical Agility Test

14. Covid test

15. Adhere to laboratory safety policies and procedures.

16. All other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

At least 3 years of phlebotomy experience
ACTIVE CDPH certification in phlebotomy
Excellent patient interaction skills in person, via email or text, and by phone.
Willingness/ability to drop off specimens.
Work from 7.30 am - 4:30 pm
Ability to pass a criminal background check and provide two professional references prior to hire.
Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

Certified Phlebotomy Technician Certificate (CPT) with minimum of three (3) years of Experience - Experience in clinic setting will be an advantage.
