Store Manager - Berkley, MA
Y Cannabis is an adult-use cannabis company with Recreational Dispensaries located in Taunton, MA and Berkley, MA. We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-oriented Store Manager to join our team at our Berkley location. As the Store Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily store operations and ensuring compliance with all regulations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cannabis culture, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
General Overview
The Store Manager, reporting directly to the General Manager, is responsible for supporting retail store operations and compliance guidelines to deliver consistent, positive, best-in-class customer experiences and drive inventory accuracy to effect profitable top line sales. The Store Manager is responsible for overall store functions with a focus on back-of-house operations in a single store location. This role requires excellent leadership qualities and a mastery of internal inventory procedures and systems. The Store Manager has supervisory responsibilities for inventory and sales staff. The Store Manager will maintain full ownership and accountability for store-level operations, including oversight of staff, customer experience, and execution of company standards.
Description
As the Store Manager, you will support the General Manager in ensuring that all daily operating procedures are performed while promoting a company image of excellence through a strong work ethic, leadership by example, and the consistent delivery of impeccable customer service. You will provide day-to-day inventory management, coordinate product orders from wholesalers, be responsible for ensuring that inventory audits and reconciliations are routinely conducted and carry out various administrative tasks. As the Store Manager you will work very closely with the General Manager.
Responsibilities
● Full ownership and accountability for store-level operations, including oversight of staff, customer experience, and execution of company standards.
● Enforce compliance of all company and store policies, practices, and procedures; as well as cannabis state-specific regulations and laws.
● Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including back-office workspaces and customer-facing areas of the store.
● Fulfill daily staffing needs and coordinate employee scheduling including staffing coverage and call-out management.
● Designate daily shift structure and role assignments (POS, fulfillment, security).
● Collaborate with General Manager to hire and staff the dispensary and recruit a diverse set of skills among candidates
● Assist with onboarding of new employees (documentation, setup, training).
● Manage and inspire staff to deliver the highest level of customer service ensuring customer retention and expansion.
● Conduct monthly inventory audits and deliver on inventory variance goals. Report
discrepancies to the General Manager as necessary.
● Communication of product feedback (sales trends, pricing, demand) to General Manager
● Ensure policy enforcement and team accountability. Promote a positive work environment.
● Manage scheduling within payroll targets set by General Manager
● Control day-to-day operating expenses (supplies, store needs) within approved budgets. Submit requests for non-standard or high-cost purchases.
● Maintain awareness of cost impact by making staffing and operational decisions.
● Train staff on current promotions and product focus.
● Ensure the team is actively selling and executing in store promotions and campaigns on the Sales floor.
● Promote a focus on in-store merchandising and product visibility.
● Communicate real time customer feedback, demand trends, and product requests to
the General Manager.
● Identify local opportunities (repeat customer behaviors, peak times, sales patterns).
● Review and receive all vendor deliveries with diligence and accuracy and in accordance with company policies and state regulations.
● Oversee damaged product and cannabis waste procedures.
● Collaborate with the General Manager on training of staff according to company guidelines.
● Prepare and effectively lead Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) inspectors and law enforcement through announced and unannounced inspections;
● Ensure that proper records are kept for all necessary documents: delivery and inventory manifests, nightly and monthly inventory counts, logbooks, inventory adjustments and destruction reports
● Liaise with Cannabis Control Commission (CCC), law enforcement, vendors, landlords, and local community as needed.
● Partner with the General Manager to implement streamlined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
● Store managers are not assigned to fixed roles for the duration of a shift. Their role is to oversee the entire floor, not operate as a single-position employee.
● Store Managers are responsible for coverage gaps (this include callouts, late arrivals and unexpected staffing shortages) and are expected to personally step in to cover shifts, when necessary, rather than defaulting to escalation.
● Maintain professional, constructive communication and reinforce management direction consistently with staff.
Failure to meet these expectations may result in corrective action, up to and including
termination.
Qualifications/Requirements
● Bachelor’s degree specializing in operations or business administration preferred or equivalent work experience;
● 1-3 years of retail management experience;
● 1+ years of management experience managing and receiving inventory, and operations;
● Must have prior experience working in a high-volume setting;
● Cannabis or other highly regulated industry experience (strongly preferred); Training experience, a plus;
● Knowledge of state specific cannabis laws and regulatory compliance (preferred);
● Must be highly computer-literate;
● Must have excellent people skills as well as a friendly and outgoing personality;
● Treats people with respect, keeps commitments, inspires trust, and motivates others, works with integrity and ethics, upholds organizational standards;
● Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays and to be 'on call'Observes and adheres to regulatory, safety and security procedures;
● Must be at least 21 years of age;
● Must pass all required background checks and be able to obtain a CCC registered agent license;
● Must be and remain compliant with all regulatory requirements for working in the cannabis industry;
● Must have excellent organization and time management skills; and
● Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively.
