Job Summary

This is a 16 week contract.

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract position dedicated to providing exceptional urgent and emergent patient care. In this vital role, you will be at the forefront of acute medical interventions, working within a fast-paced, high-stakes environment to deliver top-tier nursing services. Your expertise will ensure timely assessments, critical interventions, and comprehensive patient management, all while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and compassionate care. This contract opportunity offers an engaging environment where your skills in emergency medicine and diverse clinical procedures will make a real difference in patients’ lives.

Duties

Perform rapid patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and initial triage to prioritize care based on acuity levels.
Administer medications, IV infusions, injections, and perform suturing as needed for trauma or procedural interventions.
Manage airway support with ventilator adjustments and provide acute pain management to stabilize patients effectively.
Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document patient care accurately and efficiently.
Conduct diagnostic evaluations including specimen collection/processing, laboratory testing, and basic imaging procedures like CT scans or sonography when necessary.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in trauma medicine, cardiac catheterization procedures, infectious disease care, and ICU or Level I Trauma Center protocols.
Execute aseptic techniques during invasive procedures such as catheterizations or sterile dressing changes while adhering to infection control standards.
Assist with patient transfers to specialized units like PICU or Neonatal ventilator units, ensuring safe handling and continuity of care.
Provide education on health coaching topics including medication administration, discharge planning, and post-acute care instructions for diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, and individuals with disabilities.

Qualifications

Valid RN license with current state registration; experience working in emergency room settings is essential.
Critical care experience preferred, including ICU or Level I Trauma Center exposure; familiarity with trauma medicine and acute care protocols is highly valued.
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for documentation purposes.
Strong clinical skills including IV insertion, venipuncture, suturing, airway management, and specimen collection/processing.
Experience with complex procedures such as cardiac catheterization, dialysis support, ostomy care, or gastrostomy feeding is advantageous.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical terminology to ensure compliance with confidentiality standards.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced environments like emergency rooms or urgent care centers; excellent patient assessment skills are critical.
Additional experience in behavioral health, hospice & palliative medicine, infectious disease care, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities enhances your candidacy.
