Full Job Description

Build the Future of Healthcare Finance at New Summit!

New Summit Health is growing and seeking a hands-on finance leader who enjoys building the systems, controls, and reporting structure of a growing skilled nursing organization. This is a builder role. You will own the monthly close, oversee accounts payable and collections, deliver timely and accurate financial statements, and establish the weekly reporting cadence that keeps executive leadership informed without having to ask. The position reports directly to executive leadership and is highly visible across both campuses.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Close

Own the monthly close process end to end and deliver timely, accurate financial statements prepared on an accrual basis in accordance with GAAP.
Produce structured weekly reporting for the CEO covering census, cash, accounts payable, collections, and key operating indicators.
Prepare EBITDA reporting and budget to actual variance analysis with clear explanations of drivers and corrective actions.
Develop executive dashboards, KPI scorecards, and monthly operating reports.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial analytics, and performance reporting.

Accounts Payable and Revenue Cycle

Oversee accounts payable, including approval workflows, vendor management, and weekly payment planning.
Partner with Business Office Managers to improve collections, reduce aging, and strengthen financial performance.
Drive revenue cycle optimization and reimbursement strategy across Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care payers.

HUD Covenant and Lender Compliance

Prepare and submit quarterly and annual operator financial statements in accordance with HUD Section 232 requirements and lender deadlines, including quarterly filings within 60 days of quarter end and annual filings within 90 days of fiscal year end.
Monitor and report on loan covenant compliance, including debt service coverage ratio, days cash on hand, working capital, and any facility specific covenants under the loan agreement and operator regulatory agreement.
Manage replacement reserve draw requests, supporting documentation, and reconciliation with the lender.
Ensure management fees, intercompany charges, and related party transactions are documented, properly supported, and compliant with HUD subordination and regulatory agreement requirements.
Maintain compliance with accounts receivable financing and intercreditor agreement reporting requirements, including borrowing base certificates where applicable.
Serve as the primary financial point of contact for the HUD lender and servicer, responding to information requests and coordinating annual lender reviews.

Year End Accounting and Audit

Own the fiscal year end close calendar, including final accruals, accounts receivable and allowance analysis, fixed assets, and intercompany reconciliations across the operating, holding, and management entities, culminating in a clean trial balance.
Serve as lead point of contact for the annual audit, managing the prepared by client list, coordinating auditor fieldwork, and driving the engagement to completion within HUD filing deadlines.
Support preparation of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, including reconciliation of the general ledger to cost report schedules.
Coordinate year end deliverables to tax preparers, including related party and management fee schedules and 1099 compliance.

Internal Controls and Back Office Structure

Design, maintain, and enforce internal controls, including segregation of duties, AP approval workflows, monthly bank reconciliations, and cash management controls consistent with audit and lender expectations.
Structure and continuously improve the back office finance function, including systems, workflows, and staffing.
Experience with Point Click Care EHR software or other SNF EHR.
Strongly prefer someone with experience of developing the back office functions and rolling out financial software (i.e. Sage Intacct)
Lead strategic financial projects, process improvement, and operational initiatives.
Support organizational growth across our Arlington Heights and Mundelein campuses.

Ideal Candidate

A hands on accountant, or professional with GAAP accounting principles, who builds structure rather than inheriting it.
Skilled nursing facility finance or revenue cycle leadership experience.
Strong management and project leadership skills.
Ability to connect financial performance with operational excellence.
Experience presenting executive level financial reports.
Passion for building scalable systems in a growing healthcare organization.

Requirements

BA degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Accounting degree strongly preferred.
Skilled nursing facility financial operations experience is required.
Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual based financial reporting is required. CPA strongly preferred.
Direct experience with HUD insured Section 232 reporting and covenant compliance, or demonstrated ability to manage lender financial reporting requirements, is required.
Hands on ownership of monthly close, accounts payable, and collections oversight. This is a builder role, not solely an analytics role.
5+ years minimum in healthcare finance, revenue cycle, FP&A, or financial operations leadership.
Experience with EBITDA reporting, budget to actual variance analysis, and structuring back office finance functions.
Point Click Care general ledger and billing experience strongly preferred.
Advanced Excel, financial reporting, and dashboard development skills.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and executive reporting.
MBA, MHA, CPA, or HFMA certification preferred.

Education

Masters degree preferred.

Experience

Revenue cycle management, 5 years required.
Financial analysis, 5 years required.
Healthcare management, 5 years required.
HUD financing, lending, or skilled nursing financial operations, 1 year required.

License and Certification

CPA preferred.
