Job Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Pharmacist in Charge to oversee pharmacy operations within a healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical and operational expertise, ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant dispensing of medications. This leadership role requires a proactive approach to patient care, medication management, and team coordination, supporting the delivery of exceptional healthcare services. The Pharmacist in Charge will serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory compliance, staff supervision, and patient safety initiatives.

Duties

Oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensuring adherence to all federal and state regulations including HIPAA and pharmacy laws.
Supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, fostering a collaborative and compliant work environment.
Manage medication inventory, including ordering, storage, compounding medications, and ensuring proper stock levels.
Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and potential drug interactions; perform patient assessments as needed.
Provide clinical pharmacy services such as medication therapy management, pain management consultations, immunizations, and patient education.
Ensure accurate documentation within EMR/EHR systems and maintain detailed records for audits and compliance purposes.
Lead efforts in medication safety initiatives, including aseptic techniques for sterile compounding and IV infusion procedures.
Facilitate training on pharmacy software systems and new protocols; oversee compounding medications with proper aseptic technique.
Collaborate with medical teams on patient care plans involving pharmacotherapy, medical management, and acute care strategies.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, medical terminology, and relevant clinical practices to support patient care.

Skills

Extensive experience in LTC pharmacy or hospital settings with critical care expertise preferred.
Completion of a pharmacy residency program with strong clinical pharmacy background.
Proven ability in patient service delivery including patient assessment and medication administration.
Proficiency with pharmacy software applications as well as EMR/EHR systems for documentation and communication.
Skilled in compounding medications safely using aseptic techniques; experienced with IV insertion and infusion protocols.
Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, immunizations, pain management strategies, and medical terminology relevant to clinical practice.
Strong inventory management skills to ensure medication availability while minimizing waste.
Experience with hospital or acute care environments; familiarity with HIPAA regulations is essential.
Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety standards such as IV infusion procedures.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with healthcare professionals across disciplines. This position offers an opportunity to lead a dedicated team within a dynamic healthcare environment committed to excellence in patient care through innovative pharmaceutical practices.
