General Manager

Davenport’s Pizza Palace

About the Role

Davenport’s Pizza Palace is a locally owned restaurant built around great pizza, great service, and a strong connection to our community. We are looking for an experienced General Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operation of the restaurant and lead our team to consistently deliver a high-quality experience for our guests.

The General Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the restaurant, including operations, staffing, training, financial performance, labor management, food quality, guest service, and team culture.

We are looking for an experienced restaurant leader who is hands-on, dependable, organized, and comfortable being accountable for results. This position requires someone who can develop a strong team, maintain high standards, solve problems proactively, and operate the restaurant with an ownership mentality.

Key Responsibilities

Restaurant Operations

Oversee all day-to-day restaurant operations and ensure the restaurant runs efficiently and professionally.
Maintain high standards for food quality, cleanliness, organization, hospitality, and overall guest experience.
Ensure opening, closing, food preparation, cash-handling, and operational procedures are consistently followed.
Identify operational issues and take initiative to correct them.
Maintain restaurant facilities and equipment and coordinate repairs or maintenance when necessary.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, food-handling, and company standards.

Leadership, Hiring & Team Development

Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and retain high-quality employees.
Train and develop managers and hourly team members.
Establish clear expectations and hold employees accountable to performance and conduct standards.
Build schedules that properly staff the restaurant while maintaining appropriate labor costs.
Provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance management.
Develop future leaders within the restaurant and create a positive, accountable workplace culture.
Lead by example and be willing to work alongside the team when needed.

Financial Performance

Take responsibility for the restaurant's overall financial performance.
Manage labor costs through effective scheduling and productivity.
Monitor food costs, waste, inventory, purchasing, and portion control.
Review sales and operating results and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels and oversee ordering and vendor relationships.
Protect restaurant assets through proper cash-handling and loss-prevention procedures.
Work with ownership to establish and achieve sales, labor, food-cost, and profitability goals.

Guest Experience & Community

Ensure every guest receives friendly, attentive, and professional service.
Address guest concerns quickly and appropriately.
Develop a team culture where hospitality is a priority.
Maintain Davenport’s reputation as a locally owned restaurant that values its customers and community.
Build relationships with regular guests and represent Davenport’s professionally in the community.
Identify opportunities to increase sales, repeat business, and overall guest satisfaction.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

Previous restaurant management experience, preferably in a General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or similar leadership role.
A proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a restaurant team.
Experience managing labor, scheduling, inventory, food costs, and restaurant financial performance.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
The ability to make decisions independently and take ownership of results.
A hands-on leadership style and willingness to step into any area of the restaurant when necessary.
High standards for cleanliness, food quality, hospitality, and employee performance.
Dependability, professionalism, and integrity.
Availability to work a restaurant management schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
