Ofice Operations Opportunity: Director of Resource Planning

iSuite is a business support services organization formed in 2023. The organization provides business development and pursuit, estimating, safety, accounting, human resources, information technology, marketing, and training services to clients within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (A/E/C) industry.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Director of Resource Planning is responsible for developing and executing the company's enterprise resource planning strategy for project delivery. This role ensures the right people are assigned to the right projects at the right time by balancing project requirements, employee capabilities, workload, availability, geographic considerations, and development opportunities.

Working closely with executive leadership, operations leaders, project executives, and business unit leaders, the Director serves as the central point for workforce planning across all active and anticipated projects. This individual develops project teams, forecasts future staffing needs, identifies resource gaps, and helps accelerate employee development through intentional project assignments.

Success in this role requires a strong understanding of engineering, construction, and project delivery organizations, combined with exceptional analytical, organizational, and relationship management skills.

WHAT YOU’LL DO / ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Enterprise Resource Planning

Lead enterprise resource planning across all operating companies and business units.
Match project staffing requirements with employee experience, technical expertise, certifications, availability, and career development goals.
Develop staffing recommendations for current and future projects.
Maintain a rolling forecast of workforce demand and capacity.
Anticipate staffing shortages and recommend hiring, transfers, or contract resources.
Monitor resource utilization across departments and locations.

Project Team Development

Build balanced project teams based on project complexity, customer requirements, technical disciplines, and individual strengths.
Recommend assignments that support succession planning and employee development.
Ensure appropriate mix of senior, mid-level, and developing talent on each project.
Partner with operations leaders to identify future leadership candidates through project assignments.

Strategic Workforce Planning

Develop long-range workforce forecasts using business pipeline data.
Collaborate with Business Development to understand future project awards.
Identify upcoming capacity constraints and recommend proactive staffing solutions.
Support annual workforce planning and budgeting activities.

Resource Analytics

Develop dashboards and reporting related to:
- Resource utilization
- Forecasted capacity
- Bench strength
- Staffing shortages
- Project assignments
- Employee development opportunities
Utilize workforce planning software and reporting tools to improve decision-making.
Analyze staffing trends and recommend process improvements.

Cross-Functional Partnership

Partner with Operations, HR, Talent Acquisition, and executive leadership.
Participate in project kickoff and staffing meetings.
Support hiring priorities by communicating future talent needs.
Assist leaders in making informed staffing decisions using objective workforce data.

Continuous Improvement

Develop standardized resource planning processes across the organization.
Recommend and implement workforce planning technology and best practices.
Improve visibility into employee skills, certifications, and experience.
Establish resource planning metrics and KPIs.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Human Resources, or a related field required.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project management, operations, workforce planning, resource management, or construction management.
Experience supporting large, multi site engineering, construction, manufacturing, or industrial organizations preferred.
Demonstrated experience balancing workforce capacity with project demand.
Experience developing workforce forecasts and resource allocation strategies.
Experience working with workforce planning, ERP, HRIS, or project management software preferred.
PMP certification or equivalent project management experience preferred.
Strong understanding of engineering, construction, manufacturing, or industrial project delivery.
Excellent understanding of project organization structures and staffing models.
Ability to evaluate technical capabilities and align talent with project needs.
Strong business acumen with the ability to balance operational priorities and employee development.
Advanced analytical and forecasting skills.
Excellent relationship building and influencing skills.
Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
Ability to make decisions in a fast paced environment with changing priorities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and workforce planning software.
Experience using ERP, HRIS, or workforce planning platforms such as Workday Adaptive Planning, Workday Workforce Planning, Oracle, SAP, UKG, or similar systems preferred.
Ability to travel domestically up to 30% to build relationships, gain an understanding of the business, and become familiar with our operations; travel is expected to decrease to approximately 10% once established in the role.
Must maintain a valid driver's license.
