Full Job Description

THE POSITION

Are you organized, focused, and always working to do your best? If so, you may be a great fit for the Department of Transportation’s Human Resource Office, Field Operation Division as a Human Resource Assistant 2. This role allows you to use your strengths while you complete important clerical and technical human resource tasks that support the office. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Human Resource Assistant 2 supports hiring, recruitment, and daily human resource (HR) operations for District 5. This role helps ensure smooth processes, strong customer service, and accurate HR actions across the organization. As a Human Resource Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

Recruitment Support: Coordinate hiring steps such as requisitions, referrals, interviews, and background checks
Program Coordination: Assist seasonal and student employment programs by working with hiring managers to identify staffing needs
HR Processing: Review and process transactions for promotions, separations, reclassifications, and other personnel actions
Employee Records: Maintain electronic files, position descriptions, and documents needed for employment eligibility verification
Customer Service: Respond to employee and supervisor inquiries and provide guidance on HR procedures
Performance Review Tracking: Monitor completion of evaluations and help ensure compliance with HR policies

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Allentown. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Human Resource Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
One year of clerical or other comparable experience and one year of beginning level paraprofessional human resource or equal opportunity work; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
