Full Job Description

Position: Sign Shop Production Manager - Sign/Graphics

Established Traffic Control, Inc. (ETC) is a comprehensive traffic management, equipment, and signage company serving the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We specialize in traffic control services, work zone safety, custom sign manufacturing, pavement marking, and equipment sales for construction companies, municipalities, utilities, and government agencies throughout the region.

With more than 125 years of combined industry experience, ETC has built a reputation for providing exceptional customer service, quality workmanship, and innovative traffic safety solutions. We are currently seeking an experienced Sign Shop Production Manager to lead our production team and oversee the daily operations of our growing sign manufacturing facility.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong production management experience, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Manage the daily operations of the sign production department.
Supervise, train, mentor, and schedule production employees.
Coordinate production schedules with the Operations and Project Management teams to ensure deadlines are met.
Manage shop inventory, maintain material levels, and oversee purchasing and vendor ordering.
Follow precise layouts to accurately place computer-cut vinyl and full-color graphics on various substrates.
Prepare substrates by cutting, laminating, cleaning, routing, and assembling finished products.
Operate plotters, laminators, large-format printers, panel saws, CNC equipment, and various production machinery.
Weed excess vinyl from computer-cut graphics using proper techniques.
Perform quality assurance inspections before, during, and after production.
Execute finishing operations including laminating, mounting, trimming, grommet installation, and packaging.
Design and layout traffic control signs, roadway signs, street signs, guide signs, construction signs, and custom graphics to customer specifications.
Read and interpret shop drawings, work orders, and customer artwork.
Ensure compliance with MUTCD and PennDOT specifications when applicable.
Maintain equipment and ensure preventative maintenance schedules are followed.
Enforce workplace safety standards and maintain a clean, organized shop environment.
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to increase production efficiency and quality.

Experience:

Previous experience managing a sign manufacturing or graphics production facility is required.
Experience with Gerber Omega, Gerber Sign, FlexiSIGN, Adobe Illustrator, or similar sign production software is preferred.
Experience operating plotters, laminators, large-format printers, and sign fabrication equipment.
Experience with inventory management and purchasing.
Experience assigning and managing employee workloads.
Knowledge of MUTCD traffic signs and PennDOT sign specifications is preferred.
Previous supervisory or management experience is highly preferred.

Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced production environment.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and production layouts.
Proficient with hand tools and power tools including drills, saws, rivet guns, grommet machines, and measuring equipment.
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and production software.
Ability to safely climb ladders and lift up to 40 pounds.
Positive attitude with a commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.

Due to the nature of the work and focus on safety, the applicant will be required to take a pre-employment drug screening and complete the E-Verify process prior to the first day of work.
