Job Summary
micro1 is seeking experienced Chemical Safety & Toxicology Experts to support AI Training and evaluation projects focused on chemical safety, toxicological risk assessment, hazardous materials, and nonproliferation. In this role, you will apply your domain expertise to help improve next-generation AI systems by evaluating technical content, annotating complex scenarios, and providing expert guidance across a variety of chemical safety use cases.
This is an hourly-paid contract opportunity, not a traditional laboratory or research position. Contributors will work on project-based AI training and evaluation tasks designed to improve how AI systems understand, reason about, and evaluate chemical safety, toxicology, hazardous materials, and regulatory frameworks.
No prior AI experience is required. What matters most is deep domain expertise, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to AI training, benchmarking, and evaluation projects involving chemical safety, toxicology, hazardous materials, and nonproliferation.
- Analyze and evaluate technical data related to toxicological risks, precursor chemicals, hazardous substances, and chemical safety scenarios.
- Review, annotate, and provide expert feedback on documents, datasets, and AI-generated outputs involving chemical weapons, toxicology, and hazardous materials.
- Interpret chemical interactions, exposure risks, toxicity profiles, and regulatory requirements with scientific accuracy.
- Help develop and refine evaluation guidelines for chemical safety assessments and toxicological risk analysis.
- Identify inaccuracies, safety concerns, and knowledge gaps within AI-generated content.
- Clearly communicate technical findings and scientific reasoning through detailed written documentation.
- Collaborate remotely with multidisciplinary teams to improve AI performance across chemical safety and toxicology domains.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Advanced degree (PhD, MD, JD, PsyD, or relevant Master's degree) in Chemistry, Toxicology, Industrial Hygiene, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of specialized experience in chemical safety, hazardous materials, toxicological risk assessment, industrial chemistry, or chemical weapons nonproliferation.
- Strong expertise in chemical hazard identification, exposure assessment, toxicology, or hazardous substance management.
- Experience with chemical safety regulations, nonproliferation standards, controlled substances, or precursor chemical risk evaluation.
- Excellent analytical and scientific reasoning skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience serving as a consultant, policy advisor, safety officer, emergency response specialist, or regulatory expert.
- Background in government, research institutions, industrial safety, defense, or chemical compliance organizations.
- Familiarity with hazardous material management standards and chemical safety protocols.
- Experience evaluating high-risk chemical scenarios or regulatory compliance programs.
- Interest in AI, machine learning, or applying scientific expertise to emerging technology platforms.
Additional Information
This opportunity is ideal for experienced chemical safety and toxicology professionals who want to apply their expertise to the development of next-generation AI systems. Your work will directly influence how AI models evaluate chemical hazards, toxicological risks, regulatory requirements, hazardous materials, and safety-critical scientific information.
