The perfect candidate will be a positive hands-on leader with a commitment to supporting overall guest experience and facility management efficiency (Physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and related equipment in accordance with preventative maintenance programs). Manage daily resolution of all IT matters (creating tickets) as well as all rehabilitation, expansion and/or special projects.
Areas of Responsibility:
· Conduct walk-throughs and access the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structures of the hotels, all mechanical, electrical HVAC and any other related equipment
· Lead, train & mentor Engineering staff including hiring, development, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions and termination.
· Cross-train all team members to perform independently on of the engineering department to prevent productivity loss.
· Monitor and manage payroll of all hourly Engineering associates.
· Oversee and inspect the progress and/or completion of all work performed by contractors.
· Report to the General Manager each day for a two-way briefing on all activities relating to engineering responsibilities.
· CPO Certification Preferred - Oversee the care and maintenance of the swimming pool.
· Maintain a well-defined, organized system within the shop for the inventory, maintenance, and storage of all tools, products, materials, and equipment necessary to execute the required activities of the department.
· Develop, implement, maintain and record a Guest Room Maintenance Program, and a Systems Preventative Maintenance Program featuring a chart of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual items necessary.
· Conduct special training for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel, as needed.
· Assign, verify the completion of work orders received from other departments, routine maintenance, repairs and communication via company systems (Quore/email/text), etc.
· Work with General Manager and Accounting Office regarding any service contracts under the scope of Engineering.
· Control R&M budget - oversee the purchase of engineering department supplies and maintenance contracts including specification writing, competitive bidding and writing of purchase orders for General Manager approval.
· Manage and oversee capital projects. Work with the General Manager on the planning of capital expenses.
· Manage network server and technology matters (computers, internet, email addresses, etc.)
· Maintain the property in a safe condition and report any circumstance that may threaten the safety of the property, the guests and/or the employees.
· Interface and maintain a good relationship with local authorities: police, fire, health and building inspectors.
· Interface and maintain a good relationship with purveyors and contractors.
Requirements:
· Five years’ previous management experience in hospitality Engineering role preferred.
· HVAC Certification Strongly Preferred (other certifications may be required).
· Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet hotel needs that includes nights, weekends and holidays.
· This role requires full-time availability, including on-call responsibilities. Outside employment is permitted only if it does not interfere with the schedule, duties, or performance expectations of the Chief Engineer position. Any secondary employment must be disclosed and approved to ensure no conflict of interest or scheduling conflict.
· Ability to move, lift carry, push, pull or place objects weighing less than 50 pounds without assistance. Heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance.
