Job description

We are looking for an experienced or rising Tax Manager motivated to continue to expand on their current tax knowledge and join our tax team.

For more than 50 years Caras & Shulman, PC has provided privately-owned companies and their owners with a full-range of uncompromising professional consulting, accounting, and tax services in a variety of industries. We are a well-established firm offering a competitive salary and benefit package, opportunities for growth and the ability to work directly with clients.

Responsibilities

· Review federal and state income tax returns prepared by staff for both businesses and individuals, including: 1120-S, 1065, 1120 and 1040s

· Review annual corporate and individual income tax projections

· Assist in the development and training of associate level staff

· Assist in the resolution of federal, state and local tax notices and audits

· Assist in the management of workflow for tax team to meet deliverables and deadlines

· Perform research and other special projects as necessary

· Develop knowledge, understanding, and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations relating to job duties

· Communicate effectively with both internal team members and clients

· Perform other duties as assigned by management

· Overtime required January 1‐April 15

Qualifications

· 5+ years of experience within a public accounting firm

· CPA certification preferred

· Proven demonstration of review role in tax compliance and/or consulting experience across a broad range of entity types

· Proficiency with ProSystem fx or similar tax software

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and paperless workpapers for return review and support

· Must be able to effectively organize, prioritize and manage multiple engagements under tight deadlines

· Strong analytical, organizational and written and verbal communications skills
