Full Job Description

Successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. May be expected to lift up to 50 pounds or up to 150 pounds with assistance. May be expected to push or pull 150-300 pounds with assistance. Work is of medium demand; walking or standing most of the time while on duty. Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required. Optimal auditory acuity required. Manual dexterity involving the handling of equipment and instruments or complete range of equipment and techniques is essential to performing assigned duties. Physical conditions are clean, neat and well-lit. May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions needed to be taken is essential. Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced and required by patient care and needs of the surgical team. Exposure to limited amounts of radiation, hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes are a possibility. Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to the requirements of the daily surgical schedule. Frequently is required to walk. The employee is frequently required to stand or reach with hands and arms

The Operating Room Scrub Personnel must be able to competently assist surgeons during operative/invasive procedure, assuring that necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment are ready and/or available and anticipate such needs and must ensure the integrity of the sterile field at all times . The scrub personnel always functions under the supervision of the registered nurse.

Under the supervision of the Surgeon, facilitates the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures. Ensures that the operating room environment is safe, the equipment functions properly, and the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Performs a variety of technical duties to assist with surgical and/or endoscopic procedures. Assists in maintenance of supply levels, cleaning and decontamination of equipment and instruments .

Key Responsibilities include: Assists surgeons during operative/invasive procedure, assuring that necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment are ready and/or available and anticipate such needs. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers. Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with patients, patients' families, and ancillary departments. Flexibility to adapt to new and changing situations. Expertise in theory and application of sterile and aseptic techniques. Knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies. Knowledge of Operating Room equipment/instrumentation. Ability to operate business machines and handle heavy equipment (push/pull). Ability to speak and write in English. At least one (1) year of Operating Room experience preferred.
