Full Job Description

A well-established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist Programmer to join its production team. This position is ideal for a highly skilled machinist who enjoys solving complex machining challenges, improving manufacturing processes, and mentoring others. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting production through advanced CNC programming, machine setup, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement.

This is a hands-on position within a precision manufacturing environment that values safety, quality, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Program, edit, and optimize CNC machining programs to improve efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability.
Perform advanced machine setups on CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment, including multi-axis machines.
Diagnose machining and equipment issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
Support continuous improvement efforts by reducing setup times, increasing throughput, and improving overall process performance.
Collaborate with engineering, quality, maintenance, and production teams to improve manufacturability and support new product launches.
Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment to verify compliance with drawings and quality standards.
Recommend tooling, fixturing, and machining process improvements to enhance productivity and product quality.
Document setup information, tooling changes, and process updates to support standardized work practices.
Assist with production scheduling priorities within the machining area to help meet customer delivery expectations.
Train and mentor less experienced machinists while promoting safe work practices and technical development.
Safely operate material handling equipment as required and obtain company-sponsored certifications when necessary.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety procedures.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of seven (7) years of hands-on machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong experience operating and setting up CNC mills and lathes.
Ability to create, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs.
Experience with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, blueprint interpretation, and quality standards.
Proven ability to troubleshoot machining processes and implement process improvements.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Commitment to workplace safety and maintaining high-quality workmanship.

Preferred Qualifications

State Indentured Journeyman certification or equivalent machining certification.
Experience with multi-axis machining and complex part manufacturing.
Previous experience mentoring or training machinists in a production environment.
