Location- Bad Axe, MI
Shift Times: 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM 36 hrs guaranteed
Pay- $2200 to $2300 for Traveler
Pay- $45 to $50 hourly for Local Candidate
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Travel Registered Nurse specializing in the Operating Room (OR) to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will provide expert nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures across various hospital settings, including Level I and Level II trauma centers, emergency departments, and outpatient surgical centers. Your expertise will support safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical experiences for diverse patient populations. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of aseptic techniques, intraoperative nursing procedures, and advanced patient assessment skills to ensure optimal outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive perioperative nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures, ensuring adherence to sterile techniques and infection control protocols.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams to facilitate smooth operative processes and ensure patient safety.
- Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses throughout procedures, promptly addressing any deviations or complications.
- Assist with surgical instrument counts, specimen handling, and maintaining a sterile environment in accordance with hospital standards.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately within electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), including medication administration, intraoperative assessments, and post-operative instructions.
- Support patient education regarding preoperative preparations and post-surgical care plans.
- Respond effectively to emergent situations such as acute pain episodes or airway management challenges during surgery.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies related to patient confidentiality and safety.
- Participate in ongoing training related to new surgical techniques, EMR systems like Epic or Cerner, and infection control practices.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a registered nurse in an operating room setting within a hospital environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency with aseptic technique, sterile processing, and intraoperative nursing procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation purposes.
- Experience supporting complex surgeries including cardiac catheterization, trauma medicine, neuro or spinal procedures, and outpatient surgeries.
- Critical care experience preferred, especially in ICU or PACU settings involving acute pain management and ventilator management.
- Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) for accurate documentation of procedures and diagnoses.
