Day-long interpretive hiking tours in Yellowstone's backcountry and frontcountry:
- Lamar Valley Safari Hike
- Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone Rim Hike
- Upper Geyser Basin Hike
- Grand Prismatic and Fairy Falls Hike
- 5-7 miles hiking at high elevation
- 3-5 day/week (flexible scheduling)
Guides must share the same work/moral ethics Yellowstone Hiking Guides outlines in guide training. We work hard for the entire season. We work cold snowy mornings and long, hot days. We like folks who commit to excellence. We like leaders who have a passion for outdoor education. We like guides who like to have fun!
Job requirements include:
- Leading guided hiking tours through Yellowstone, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
- Provide informative commentary on local wildlife, geology, and ecology, utilizing strong public speaking and communication skills.
- Manage group dynamics and time effectively to adhere to scheduled itineraries.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing participant inquiries and concerns.
- Hiking up to seven miles at high elevation three to five days a week.
- Driving slowly on mountain roads in the early morning and afternoon rush hour.
- Maintain Wilderness First Aid/Responder Certification and apply relevant skills in emergency situations.
- Preparation and cleanup for each tour.
The ideal candidates has the following qualifications:
- Wilderness First Aid or Responder
- Leave No Trace knowledge
- Certified Interpretive Guide
- Previous guiding experience
- Ability to follow directions (and the YHG program)
- Ability to work solo shifts
- Clean driving record
- Ability to drive on mountain roads
- Ability to live remotely
- Ability to camp for the season (no housing provided)
- 25-years-old or older
- Knowledge of Yellowstone National Park flora, fauna, and history
- Mountain travel safety skills (weather, water, wildlife, etc.)
- Morning person
- Dazzling personality; able to talk to and entertain people from all walks of life
- Ability to communicate in layman terms

We are a small family business. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide housing at this time. But, there are camping great options for our employees! Dry camping spaces are available at local campgrounds. Shower/bath house is available at campgrounds. Restaurants/bar located nearby. Brown bag lunches and breakfast snack provided on workdays.

3 days shadowing a lead guide in Yellowstone National Park
- YHG program on the trail (Lamar Valley, Canyon, Geyser, Fairy Falls)
- Real life customer interactions/situations
Guide School is paid training.
Participants are examined on outdoor knowledge, naturalism, communication and teamwork. Guides who earn a position on the team receive paid hands-on training with an experienced guide on the trail/on the road/on the water in Yellowstone before leading tours.
