POSITION SUMMARY
The Sales Estimator plays a critical role in ACP’s growth by preparing precise and timely quotes for custom-manufactured parts. This position requires a strong balance of technical estimating skills, manufacturing knowledge, and customer-focused communication to successfully convert RFQs into orders. Working closely with engineering, programming, and operations, the Sales Estimator ensures pricing aligns with ACP’s capabilities, capacity, and quality standards. Success in this role contributes directly to customer satisfaction, revenue growth, and ACP’s reputation as the fastest, most dependable short-turn manufacturing company in the country.

OBJECTIVES
- Review RFQs, drawings, and CAD files (STEP, DXF, PDFs) to produce precise cost estimates
- Price jobs using ACP’s quoting platform (Paperless Parts), ensuring speed and accuracy
- Support orders generated through our online quoting platform, ensuring a smooth handoff to production
- Communicate with customers to clarify requirements and provide quote updates
- Identify opportunities for value-added services (e.g., deburring, forming, machining)
- Drive quote conversion by actively following up on open quotes, addressing objections, and improving response times
- Gather customer feedback and share internally to drive improvements
- Engage with suppliers when needed for material and outside service pricing
- Maintain quote status visibility, follow up on open quotes, and track conversion rates
- Leverage ERP and CRM systems to manage quoting activities, track customer interactions, and maintain data accuracy
- Track and report quoting KPIs — quote turnaround time, win/loss ratio, average order value — and adjust approach to improve
- Help identify trends and customer needs to improve quoting effectiveness and profitability
COMPETENCIES
- 2+ years of experience in estimating, quoting, or sales in manufacturing
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication, waterjet/laser cutting, and machining
- Ability to read blueprints, tolerances, and technical specs
- Proficiency with Excel, quoting platforms (e.g., Paperless Parts, Fulcrum), and cloud-based tools
- Experience using ERP and CRM systems to manage quoting workflows and customer interactions
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
PREFERED
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Experience with Paperless Parts and modern cloud-based ERP systems
- Background in short-turn, custom manufacturing, or job shop environments
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in technical sales, ideally in the sheet metal fabrication manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software is required.
- Proficiency in CADCAM or similar software is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This role primarily involves office-based work.
- Position may require travel: up to 25%
- Physical demands are minimal but may include light lifting and standing during client meetings or visits.
- Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs.
- Perform work with OSHA required PPE; Including COVID19 PPE
