Sr. Tax Manager - Partnership & Real Estate

Sr. Tax Manager - Partnership & Real Estate

Join a leading Michigan public accounting firm where a $155,000-$195,000 base salary, high-impact leadership, and a direct path toward partner are waiting for an experienced tax professional ready to lead our real estate practice.

What you'll do

Oversee and review complex federal and state partnership and LLC tax returns (Form 1065) across real estate, private equity, and operating entities.
Lead advanced real estate tax strategies, including cost segregation studies, Section 1031 exchanges, depreciation modeling, and passive activity loss planning.
Advise clients on partnership structuring, capital account maintenance under Section 704(b), tax basis calculations, and complex special allocations.
Deliver transactional tax consulting for real estate acquisitions, dispositions, debt refinancing, and large-scale developments.
Serve as the primary advisor for real estate clients while collaborating directly with outside attorneys, lenders, and financial advisors.
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate tax staff and seniors through constructive coaching and effective delegation.
Research complex developments in Subchapter K and real estate tax law, while supporting firm growth through client outreach and industry involvement.

What you need

8+ years of progressive public accounting experience with a strong focus on partnership and real estate taxation.
Active CPA license.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
Deep technical knowledge of Subchapter K, real estate tax regulations, and passive activity rules.
Proficiency with tax preparation and research software such as CCH Axcess, GoSystem, or Bloomberg Tax.

Nice to have

Master's degree in Taxation (MST) or LLM in Taxation.
Experience with Opportunity Zone investments, tax credit projects, or complex real estate joint ventures.
Proven track record of managing multiple complex client relationships simultaneously.
