Budget Title: Senior Personnel Associate (MP-4, Management Confidential)*
Salary: $125,000 - $130,000
The Executive Director, Office of Equity, Access, and Diversity Education serves as a collaborative leader who serves as the university's Affirmative Action Officer and Title VI Coordinator. This position assists with ensuring compliance with federal and state laws and regulations with respect to ADA and Title VI compliance by leading the university's bias response process and Title VI Committee. The Executive Director supervises the ADA Workplace Accommodation Specialist, Title VI Specialist, and UDiversity Educational Institute and serves as the liaison for the Truth Racial Healing Transformation Campus Center. This position reports to the vice president of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Division of Diversity, and Inclusion.
The executive director reviews practices, policies, and implements data collection tools to analyze metrics to assist with the improvement of the processes, and use of metrics to enhance improvement (i.e., EEO, ADA compliance, Title VI, Bias Incidents). The person is also responsible for the design, and delivery of the Inclusive Pedagogy Series through the UDiversity Educational Institute along with the supervision of its professional staff, and its budget.
The Executive Director reports to the VP of DEI to oversee discrimination investigations, manage Title VI and affirmative action policies, and deliver campus-wide compliance training. Additionally, this role serves as a primary advisory resource on institutional complaint processes for faculty, staff, and students.
Affirmative Action Program
- Assists with the administration of the University's Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and the Pregnancy Workers Fairness Act to determine reasonable accommodations for employees, the maintenance of records, and the preparation and submission of required internal and external reports in accordance with federal and state compliance regulations.

Designs and implements self-audit systems to ensure that programs and processes are in compliance with regulatory standards.

Chairs the Title VI Committee and Bias Incident Response Team. Develops and implements case management plan for each reported incident falling under the Affirmative Acton Officer's purview. Conducts investigations, writes summaries, findings of fact and recommendation(s).
Investigations/Grievances
- Conducts review of complaints of Title VI and other complaints of discrimination where protected classes are implicated.

Investigations include interviews of complainants, respondents, witnesses, and management, and a review of relevant documentation, physical evidence, or statistical information.

Acts as a representative of the University regarding discrimination complaints filed to state and federal agencies.

May assist with the referral of mediation of workplace and classroom conflicts for faculty, staff, and students upon request.

May liaise with Human Resources regarding faculty and staff issues.
Organizational Climate and Culture
- Serves as the institutional liaison to the American Association of Colleges and Universities Truth Racial Healing Transformation Campus Center.

Collaborates with the Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and other college personnel to develop and maintain a collaborative approach to foster diversity, equity and inclusion.

Works with staff to identify procedures, programs and processes that will support employee engagement, job satisfaction, productivity, and organizational effectiveness.

Develops training curriculum and delivers presentations, workshops, and where appropriate, content for online training to educate the campus community on the following; restorative and inclusive practices, bias prevention, state and federal regulations, reporting obligations, and procedural guidelines.
Metrics/Reporting
- Develops and prepares comprehensive reports based on facts revealed in investigations.

Reports include analysis of applicable laws and policies, factual background, summaries of allegations and witness interviews, and recommendations.

Prepares appropriate reports and makes recommendations assessing the effectiveness of relevant programs.

Translates statistical analyses and data reports to provide clear and concise insight for equity and diversity initiatives.

Develops and implements internal measures and/or reports which inform the administration of the status of ADA compliance and opportunities for employees with disabilities.

Engages in appropriate professional development programs to remain current in the field and to be able to accurately advise employees.
Other
- Supervises professional staff

Stays abreast of regulatory, legal, and policy updates from the OFCCP, EEOC, OCR and other agencies regarding equal opportunity data collection, reporting and auditing.

Will participate in the formulation of applicable university policy.
This is an in-person, on-campus position.

Job Requirements:

Master's degree or Juris Doctor from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education recognized accrediting organization, preferably in human resources, business administration, or a closely related field.

Demonstrated experience conducting investigations, working with affirmative action/equal opportunity programs or in one or more areas of human resources such as recruitment and employee relations.

Previous professional supervisory experience.

Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion efforts.

Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, the handling of sensitive information, and problem-solving skills to address and resolve complex issues.

Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills with strong attention to detail and organization.
Preferred:
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in higher education or relevant field

Higher education experience with previous experience with affirmative action and equal opportunity laws.

Experience designing and delivering training programs.

Experience with restorative practices.
