JOB SUMMARY AND DUTIES

JOB DUTIES

Build knowledge and develop clinical skills aimed at assisting students to obtain the CNA license
Assists students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate college resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available to complement the teaching and learning process providing a direct impact to student success.
Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care.
Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, quiz/assessment results, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
Communicate effectively with students, and all those affiliated with the course, including all staff at clinical training facilities and MCCC staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA) Instructor will instruct students according to the curriculum designed to assist students to build knowledge and clinical skills aimed at passing the licensing exam for NJ CNA.
Assist students in registering for the NJ State CNA licensing exam.
Teach a minimum of 90 hours of instruction.
Instructors shall also use the companion instructor's guide and workbook to prepare students to sit for State exam.
Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content
Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to perform physical work with patients and students in a clinical setting including the ability to lift 50 pounds.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet educational requirements.
This is a contract position, based on enrollment, each term.

(Please note that assigned tasks and responsibilities on both campuses is required for all MCCC positions and should be established with applicants)

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Positions in this class typically require: ability to use a key board, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree required
Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse for at least 3 years
Current affiliation with a Department of Health NATCEP approved.
1 year of full time experience as a registered professional nurse in a long term care facility within 5 years immediately preceding submission of resume to the Certification Program

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

At least one (1) year experience in lesson planning, lesson delivery, evaluation and/or remediation in a health care setting with experience gained in such positions as in-service coordinator, staff educator, or other health personnel.
Two (2) years’ nursing experience

Possess strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to perform physical work with patients and students in a clinical setting.
Ability to work with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.
Cultural awareness and competency demonstrated by working with and/or understanding of individuals of diverse identities such as socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity and veterans including those with different levels of academic preparation, varying physical and learning abilities
