Job Summary
The Accountant is responsible for overseeing and executing accounting functions for senior care facilities operating in Binghamton, NY and Pittston PA. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, reimbursement optimization, and adherence to state-specific Medicaid and Medicare requirements. The Accountant plays a key role in month-end close, cost reporting, audits, and financial analysis, while supporting facility leadership and corporate finance.

Responsibilities include:

Assist in month-end and year-end close processes for multiple skilled nursing facilities.
Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
Maintain general ledger integrity in accordance with GAAP.
Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and variance analyses.
Maintains fixed asset records accurately.
Monitor intercompany transactions and allocations.
Assist with state-specific cost reports for New York State Department of Health and Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.
Accurately records and reconciles payroll and operational accruals.
Partner with internal teams and external companies to resolve billing, invoicing and payable discrepancies.
Coordinate and prepare audit schedules for external auditors.
Support and create internal control development and documentation.
Management of prepaid expense schedules and monthly amortization.
Assist in annual budget preparation and forecasting.
Provide financial insight to facility administrators and campus leadership.
Monitor facility cash flow and recommend improvements.
Support audits, ad-hoc analyses and special projects as assigned.
Support system implementations or process improvements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

· Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

· Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP).

· Excellent Excel and data analysis skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).

· High attention to detail and accuracy.

· Strong organizational and time management abilities.

· Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

· Write routine correspondence.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Desired Experience/Qualifications:

· Minimum of an Associate’s Degree, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

· 3+ years of progressive accounting experience.

Experience with multi-facility accounting environments.
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Pay: $63,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
