Birmingham, AL

Our client is seeking a polished and experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join their busy practice group. In this high-visibility role, you will provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to our legal team, including direct collaboration with firm leadership. We are looking for sophisticated professionals with a strong background in civil litigation defense who possess the poise, discretion, and technical expertise to manage complex dockets and client communications seamlessly. If you excel in a fast-paced corporate environment and take pride in meticulous document preparation, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

Draft, format, and prepare legal documents including summonses, complaints, motions, responses, and subpoenas
Coordinate thorough trial preparation and assist attorneys during court proceedings
Execute electronic court filings across various state and federal jurisdictions with high precision
Manage complex attorney calendars, scheduling, and critical legal deadlines
Track attorney billable time, review pre-bills, and assist with general billing processes
Open new client matters, process conflict-of-interest checks, and maintain organized digital and physical files
Handle professional correspondence with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
Transcribe dictation, proofread legal briefs, and ensure strict adherence to court formatting rules
Coordinate with internal administrative departments including records, conflicts, and office services
Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding sensitive client and case information

Requirements:

Minimum of 4-5 years of dedicated legal secretarial or assistant experience within civil litigation (insurance defense background preferred)
Impeccable professional presentation and communication skills suitable for interacting with executive leadership and high-profile clients
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook
Demonstrated expertise in electronic court filing (e-filing) procedures
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize a high volume of tasks under tight deadlines
High degree of resourcefulness, problem-solving ability, and professional autonomy
Strict commitment to maintaining attorney-client confidentiality and institutional integrity
High School diploma required; Associate’s degree or Paralegal Certificate is a plus
