Pay: $35 per completed 30-minute session / $70 per completed clinical hour

Job Summary

Pathway 2 Purpose Wellness & Consulting, LLC is expanding our clinical team as a staffing partner for a statewide school-based tele-mental health initiative serving K–12 students and school district employees throughout Alabama.

We are seeking qualified and compassionate Alabama Associate Licensed Counselors (ALCs), Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs), and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Workers (LICSWs) interested in providing high-quality behavioral health services in a fully virtual environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for clinicians seeking flexible remote contract work while making a meaningful impact on the mental health and well-being of students, educators, and school communities throughout Alabama.

Clinicians will provide individual tele-mental health counseling to K–12 students identified for behavioral health services, as well as school employees and teachers.

Position Details

1099 Independent Contractor
100% remote
Minimum 20 hours of availability per week
Opportunities for up to 40 hours per week
Student appointments are generally 30 minutes
School employee and teacher appointments are generally 1 hour
Primary availability is during the school day, approximately 8:00 AM–3:30 PM
Before- and after-school appointments may be available for school employees and teachers
Evening hours may be offered based on program needs
No weekends required
Compensation is $35 per completed 30-minute session / $70 per completed clinical hour
Anticipated start: Late August 2026

Please note: This is a session-based independent contractor position. Clinicians are compensated for completed clinical sessions, not simply for hours of availability.

Responsibilities

Clinicians will:

Provide individual tele-mental health counseling to K–12 students and school employees
Provide evidence-based, trauma-informed, and developmentally appropriate behavioral health interventions
Address concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral difficulties, adjustment concerns, emotional regulation, and related mental health needs
Complete required clinical documentation within 24 hours
Maintain timely and accurate records within the program-provided EHR
Collaborate with clinical, program, and school-based support teams as appropriate
Follow established procedures regarding safety, crisis response, confidentiality, and mandated reporting
Maintain professional, ethical, culturally responsive, and clinically appropriate practices
Maintain all required professional licensure/credentialing, supervision when applicable, and professional liability/malpractice insurance throughout the engagement
Participate in required onboarding, training, and ongoing program compliance activities

What the Program Provides

Clinicians can focus primarily on providing clinical services. Program infrastructure includes:

Client intake coordination
Appointment scheduling through designated school personnel/program staff
Established school partnerships
EHR system
Telehealth infrastructure
Documentation and compliance oversight
Program procedures and clinical support
No insurance billing or collection responsibilities

Required Qualifications

Applicants must possess an active and appropriate Alabama mental health license/credential in one of the following categories:

Associate Licensed Counselor (ALC)
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)

ALCs must maintain all supervision requirements established by the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling throughout the engagement and provide documentation of the required supervisory arrangement during credentialing and upon request.

LMSWs are not eligible for this 1099 independent contractor opportunity.

Applicants must also:

Be able to commit a minimum of 20 hours of availability per week, primarily during school-day hours
Maintain an active Alabama license/credential in good standing throughout the engagement
Maintain current professional liability/malpractice insurance
Successfully complete required background screening, credentialing, and onboarding requirements
Have reliable high-speed internet
Have access to a private, professional workspace appropriate for confidential telehealth services
Be comfortable working independently in a remote clinical environment
Be able to maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have:

Experience providing behavioral health services to children and/or adolescents
Experience working in school-based mental health or educational settings
Experience providing tele-mental health services
Strong clinical assessment and intervention skills
Experience with evidence-based interventions such as CBT, solution-focused approaches, trauma-informed care, or related modalities
Experience with crisis assessment, safety planning, and mandated reporting
Strong written documentation skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, schools, families, and other behavioral health professionals

Schedule

Clinicians must provide a minimum of 20 hours of weekly availability. Candidates interested in providing up to 40 hours per week are strongly encouraged to apply.

Student appointments are generally scheduled during regular school hours and are approximately 30 minutes in length.

Sessions with teachers and other school employees are generally one hour and may be offered before school, after school, or during evening hours based on program needs.

No weekend availability is required.

Availability does not constitute a guarantee of a specific number of completed sessions.

Compensation

$35 per completed 30-minute session
$70 per completed clinical hour

Compensation is based on completed clinical sessions rather than scheduled availability.

This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity. Contractors will receive detailed information regarding invoicing, documentation requirements, and the program payment schedule during onboarding.

ALCs will also be required to provide documentation of their current approved clinical supervisor and supervision arrangement.

Ongoing verification of professional licensure/credentialing, malpractice insurance, and supervision status when applicable will be required throughout the engagement.

Pay: $70.00 per hour
