Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and clinically skilled Qualified Professional (QP) to join our Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) team. The QP will provide clinical support, care coordination, treatment planning, documentation, and ongoing monitoring for children and adolescents receiving intensive behavioral health services in a residential setting.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working with youth who have complex emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs and is committed to providing trauma-informed, person-centered care in a safe and therapeutic environment.
The ability to adjust to changes with consumers and within the agency is necessary. This position is under the supervision and guidance of the Director of Operations and is subject to a performance review and appraisal at least once per year.
DESCRIPTION OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Complete clinical assessments and participate in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans.
- Monitor each resident's progress toward treatment goals and make recommendations for changes in services when appropriate.
- Coordinate with therapists, medical providers, nursing staff, direct-care staff, and other involved professionals.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and communicate relevant clinical information to the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide individual, family, and/or group interventions within the scope of the QP's qualifications and agency requirements.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate documentation in accordance with agency, state, Medicaid, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with crisis intervention, behavioral support, and development of appropriate safety plans.
- Advocate for residents' needs and promote positive behavioral, emotional, social, and developmental outcomes.
- Monitor service delivery to ensure treatment interventions are consistent with the resident's treatment plan.
- Maintain professional boundaries and protect the confidentiality, dignity, and rights of all residents.
- Participate in staff meetings, supervision, training, quality-improvement activities, and other program responsibilities as assigned.
- Ensure all services are provided in compliance with applicable state regulations, licensing requirements, accreditation standards, and agency policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a human services or behavioral health-related field, as required by applicable state regulations and program requirements.
- Must meet the applicable state definition and credentialing requirements for a Qualified Professional (QP).
- Experience working with children, adolescents, behavioral health, mental health, or residential treatment populations preferred.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, behavioral health treatment, and person-centered planning preferred.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation and meet required deadlines.
- Must demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, dependability, and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with residents.
- Successful completion of required background checks, screenings, and other employment requirements.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in a PRTF, residential treatment facility, behavioral health program, psychiatric setting, or other intensive mental health setting.
- Experience working with children and adolescents with significant behavioral or emotional needs.
- Familiarity with Medicaid documentation and behavioral health service requirements.
- Experience with electronic health records and clinical documentation systems.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Preferred: Graduate with a four (4) year bachelor degree in a human service field and two (2) years experience with the population served; OR a substance abuse professional who has two years of full time experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling; OR a graduate with a bachelor’s degree in a field other than human services and has four years of fulltime MH/DD/SA experience with the population served; OR a substance abuse professional who has four years of full time experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling. OR any combination of experience, skills and competencies that is equivalent. Willing to consider experience in lieu of education.
Licenses or Certificates Required: Must possess a current NC Driver’s License, which is clear of violations reflecting a poor driving record. Personal vehicle insurance as required.

- General understanding of behavioral patterns and attitudes common in varying degrees with children and adolescents served in the MH/SA populations, and if applicable DD population.
