Job Description
Are you the person people call when something needs organizing? The one who knows how to fill a room, plan an event people actually enjoy, and make newcomers feel like they belong? We're looking for someone who loves people and loves North Dakota to lead community engagement and grassroots initiatives for our organization in the Bismarck/Mandan area.
Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is the premier grassroots organization focused on advocating solutions to the country's greatest challenges. We recognize that tens of millions of Americans are frustrated with the extreme partisanship in government that keeps common-sense reforms from being passed and instead seek to stand with policy leaders who are committed to finding a better way.
Americans for Prosperity is part of the Stand Together philanthropic community.
As a Regional Field Manager, you'll build genuine relationships across the Bismarck/Mandan area, plan and host events that bring people together, and grow a network of local leaders and volunteers who care about their communities. You don't need a political background to do this job well. We'll teach you the policy and advocacy side. What we can't teach is a genuine love of people and a knack for bringing them together, so that's what we're looking for.
How You Will Contribute
- Plan and host events across the region, from small coffee meetups to larger community gatherings, that bring people together and build real connections
- Build relationships with people in communities across the region, including those who are already trusted, active, and looked to by their neighbors
- Grow and maintain a network of volunteers and supporters, keeping them engaged, informed, and excited to stay involved
- Represent AFP at local events, civic groups, and organizations, and look for creative, fun, or unique ways to reach people and get them involved
- Learn AFP's policy priorities and connect the people you meet to opportunities to make their voice heard, including phone banking, canvassing, and social media outreach (full training provided)
- Manage part-time canvassing contractors, including time management, compliance, and best practices
- Keep AFP in regular contact with activists and volunteers to keep them motivated, informed, and active
What You Will Bring
- A genuine love of people. You build trust quickly with folks from all walks of life, and you know how to make people feel welcome and valued
- Experience planning and running events, whether that's community fundraisers, church or civic gatherings, county fairs, business open houses, or similar
- Self-motivation and the organizational skills to keep multiple events and activities on track for yourself and the people helping you
- A team player who works well with staff and volunteers alike
- Basic knowledge of and interest in government and politics
- Willingness to learn public policy and how it connects to the work you're doing. No prior policy or political experience is required
- A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to meet people in your area and across the state
- Flexibility for evenings and weekends as events require
- Enthusiasm to contribute to Stand Together's vision and principled approach to solving problems, and a commitment to stewarding our culture, which champions values including transformation and innovation, entrepreneurialism, humility, and respect
Standout Candidates Will Bring
- A track record of organizing well-attended community events, whether through a nonprofit, church, civic group, chamber of commerce, or local business
- Volunteer or staff supervisory experience
- An established reputation or network within your North Dakota community
