Job Overview
The Flying Squirrel Pub is seeking a full-time pub chef / grill cook to join our back-of-house team. We’ve recently launched a new menu centered on scratch-made dishes, house-smoked meats, and elevated quality and presentation. We're looking for a candidate with grill experience and who is creative, driven, and passionate, someone who can not only execute recipes consistently but also contribute ideas and feedback. Hours are flexible, and we are always closed on Mondays, providing a guaranteed day off each week.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and kitchen standards
Direct grill operations during peak service, ensuring speed, consistency and quality
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen, following all food safety regulations
Assist with food prep tasks such as chopping, marinating, and expediting during service
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations and minimize waste
Provide exceptional customer service by being attentive to customer needs and ensuring that food is delivered promptly and to their satisfaction
Uphold high standards in food quality, presentation, and plating
Demonstrate a commitment to hospitality and help foster a positive, team-oriented environment

Qualifications

Prior experience in a professional kitchen
Prior grill experience in a professional kitchen
Strong understanding of food preparation and presentation techniques
Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of proper food handling and safety protocols
Willingness to support fellow team members and adapt as needed
Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
ServSafe Certification is a plus
