Senior Audit Manager - Non-Profit and Employee Benefit Plans

A well-established public accounting practice in Baltimore, MD is hiring a Senior Audit Manager to lead its Non-Profit and Employee Benefit Plan (EBP) audit practice.
What you will do
-
Lead end-to-end audit engagements - pre-planning, risk assessment, fieldwork, and final reporting - for Non-Profit entities and EBPs (401(k), 403(b), and union plans)

Ensure strict compliance with ERISA, GAAP, and applicable regulatory standards on every engagement

Supervise, coach, and conduct performance reviews for audit staff at all levels, building a high-performing team culture

Present audit findings, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations directly to executive leadership and audit committees

Design and execute testing methodologies to evaluate internal control adequacy and identify operational or financial risk

Serve as the primary client relationship owner for a portfolio of Non-Profit and EBP clients, supporting retention and growth

Collaborate with firm leadership on practice development, methodology updates, and technical training initiatives
What you need
-
Active CPA license (required)
-
10+ years of progressive external audit experience in public accounting

Demonstrated expertise conducting Non-Profit and Employee Benefit Plan audits

3-5 years leading or supervising audit teams

Expert working knowledge of GAAP, ERISA, and internal control frameworks
Nice to have

Experience with audit management software such as CaseWare or ProSystem fx

Familiarity with data analytics tools applied to audit procedures

Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Experience presenting to boards of directors or audit committees
Pay and benefits

Base salary: $145,000 - $185,000 per year, commensurate with experience

Location and schedule
Baltimore, MD - Hybrid
