Positioned on the corner of the beautiful Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, VA the Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center, the premier meeting destination in Southwest Virginia is seeking a Banquet Manager. The successful candidate will be an energetic and a hands-on leader who will continuously encourage and develop their team members while ensuring a quality guest experience that keeps our clients coming back time and again.

This is a full-time salaried position, with a starting pay range of $60,000 to $70,000 the pay is commensurate with experience. This position is eligible for an incentive pay program.

Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Banquet Manager to lead our banquet operations with enthusiasm and professionalism. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of banquet event execution, ensuring seamless service delivery, exceptional guest satisfaction, and efficient team management. Your leadership will drive the success of our catering and event services, creating memorable experiences for our guests while maintaining operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and supervise all banquet event setups, service, and breakdowns to ensure smooth execution.
Lead and motivate banquet staff through effective training, scheduling, and performance management.
Collaborate with clients and catering teams to plan event details, menus, and special requests.
Monitor food preparation processes, ensuring quality standards are met while adhering to food safety regulations.
Manage inventory control for banquet supplies, linens, and equipment to optimize resources.
Oversee POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS for accurate billing and cash handling procedures.
Conduct shift management duties including staff delegation, problem resolution, and maintaining high service standards.

Skills

Extensive experience in food preparation, cooking, and food handling within a hospitality or restaurant setting.
Proven management skills with a background in food service management, supervising teams, and staff training.
Strong knowledge of POS systems including Aloha POS and Micros POS for efficient transaction processing.
Experience in catering operations, banquet event planning, and fine dining environments.
Excellent communication skills for managerial coordination, customer service excellence, and team leadership.
Ability to handle inventory control, budgeting, profit & loss analysis, and food safety management effectively.
Familiarity with restaurant management software tools such as Micros POS; experience with hotel or hospitality environments is a plus.
