Position Title: Pastry & Dessert Cook
Department: Food & Beverage – Culinary
Reports To: Resort Chef and Sous Chef
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt | Full-Time
Position Summary
Mountain Lake Lodge is seeking a talented, creative, and detail-oriented Pastry & Dessert Cook responsible for preparing high-quality desserts, pastries, breads, breakfast pastries, specialty baked goods, and seasonal confections for restaurants, banquets, weddings, events, and retail outlets. Previous professional pastry experience is required. This full-time position requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Essential Functions
· Prepare pastries, cakes, pies, cookies, breads, muffins, danishes, and plated desserts.
· Produce desserts for restaurants, weddings, banquets, conferences, and special events.
· Decorate cakes and specialty desserts using professional techniques.
· Follow standardized recipes while maintaining consistency and presentation standards.
· Assist with seasonal dessert development and holiday menus.
· Maintain food safety, sanitation, labeling, and storage standards.
· Monitor inventory, rotate stock using FIFO, and minimize waste.
· Support other culinary stations as operational needs require.
Qualifications
· Previous professional pastry or bakery experience required.
· Knowledge of baking techniques, measurements, and dessert production.
· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced resort kitchen.
· Excellent organizational and communication skills.
· Resort, hotel, banquet, or culinary school experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
· Stand for extended periods.
· Lift up to 50 pounds.
· Safely operate commercial baking equipment.
· Work in hot and cold kitchen environments.
Schedule Expectations
Full-time position requiring availability for nights, weekends, holidays, early mornings, overtime, weddings, and special events based on business needs.
