Overview
The Town of Blackstone is currently accepting applications for an experienced Bookkeeper. This position works under the general supervision of the Town Manager with duties to include but are not limited to, budget and accounting management, general ledger maintenance, annual audit prep, payroll processes, and accounts payable operations. Applications will be accepted at the Town Office until 3:00 p.m., September 4, 2026. The Town of Blackstone is an equal opportunity employer.
Duties
- Manage and record all financial transactions.
- Process accounts payable
- Prepare and process journal entries
- Conduct account reconciliation activities regularly to verify the integrity of financial information.
- Generate detailed financial reports
- Annual budget preparation
- Annual audit preparation
- Maintain general ledger
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role with a strong understanding of accounting concepts and standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP, governmental accounting practices, and non-profit accounting procedures.
- Strong skills in excel
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Experience with payroll processing, accounts payable, and general ledger reconciliation is essential.
- Familiarity with technical accounting principles including debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and financial report writing.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new accounting systems and maintain high standards of accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of the AS400/Bright accounting software preferred.

Pay: $25.48 - $32.21 per hour
