Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in accounting principles, with expertise in managing receivables, data entry, and client communication. As an integral part of our accounting operations, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate billing, timely collections, and maintaining positive relationships with clients. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in financial software systems and contribute to the overall efficiency of our financial processes.

Responsibilities

Manage accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, payment processing, and account reconciliation using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or PeopleSoft.
Perform data entry with precision, ensuring all billing information is accurately recorded and maintained in spreadsheets and financial systems.
Monitor overdue accounts and execute collections strategies to optimize cash flow while maintaining professional client relationships.
Reconcile customer accounts regularly to identify discrepancies and resolve billing issues efficiently.
Prepare detailed reports on receivables status, aging analysis, and account activity using Excel data analysis techniques and formulas.
Collaborate with the accounting team to process journal entries related to receivables and ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) regulations.
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries promptly via phone or email while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
Assist with accounts payable tasks when necessary, supporting overall financial operations within the organization.
Maintain accurate records of collection efforts and account analysis to support audit requirements and internal controls.

Qualifications

Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a focus on accounts receivable management and collections account management.
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar systems; experience with billing software is preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP standards, SOX compliance requirements, and technical accounting concepts.
Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy; familiarity with 10 key typing and double entry bookkeeping is essential.
Demonstrated ability to analyze spreadsheets, use Excel formulas for data analysis, and perform account reconciliation tasks effectively.
Effective communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration; professional phone etiquette is required.
Basic understanding of accounts payable processes alongside accounts receivable functions enhances versatility within the finance team.
Strong organizational skills coupled with attention to detail; ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
