Indiana University (IU) Bloomington Human Resources (HR) manages day-to-day HR operations and drives the implementation of strategic people initiatives for 26 departments, units, and schools across the IU Bloomington campus. As strategic business partners, we provide subject matter leadership and consulting designed to increase workplace productivity and to develop improved processes for attracting, developing, and retaining people with the required skills and aptitude to meet current and future business needs.
Job Summary
A person in this role has an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in higher education, we invite you to consider our Student Employment Specialist role. The department has a critical need for a human resources position dedicated to talent acquisition focusing on student and part-time employment and selection duties, working embedded in assigned portfolio.
Department-Specific Responsibilities

Optimizes Employment and Selection Processes: Runs effective and efficient selection processes, including resume screening, interviews, assessments, and reference checks to attract highly qualified candidates within assigned portfolio.

Provides Ongoing Support: Guides hiring managers and interviewers on effective interviewing techniques and ensuring compliance.

Facilitates Job Postings: Utilizes various sourcing channels, including job boards, social media, professional networks, and internal referrals to identify potential candidates.

Partners with Colleagues: Work closely with other HR team members and campus colleagues to support talent acquisition activities, sharing best practices and ensuring consistency in processes across the organization.

Facilitates onboarding programs to ensure a smooth transition for new hires and familiarize new employees with policies, culture, and values.

Serves as a responsive HR resource for employees on broad HR topic areas, maintaining accurate data for informed decision-making, sound transaction processing, and the promotion of consistent HR practices.

Represents Up-to-Date Hiring Practices: Stays updated on the latest trends and best practices in recruitment to optimize the hiring process.
General Responsibilities

Counsels academic and/or staff employees and management on various HR topics and functions; communicates and shares understanding of various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations.

Researches, responds to, and addresses various employee relation issues such as Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), employee complaints, workers compensation, etc.

Develops in-depth knowledge and skill in various HR functions, in addition to growing knowledge in HR policies, procedures, and legal requirements to provide quality HR guidance to academic and/or staff employees and managers.

Develops a thorough understanding of the operational strategy and culture for recruitment coordinator, school or department.

Contributes and/or manages various academic and/or staff HR activities, projects, or initiatives, such as recruitment, onboarding, engagement, or performance management.

Researches and stays up-to-date on relevant academic and/or HR topics.

May conduct research and analysis for local/department HR team or centers of expertise (COE) partners and develops solutions and recommends course of action.

May lead small projects or activities.

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources.
WORK EXPERIENCE

SHRM-CP/PHR within 1 year upon date of hire.

Experience working with data entry, document handling, or system-based workflows across multiple systems.

Ability to learn and effectively navigate competing priorities in multiple HR systems and managing system-based workflows.

Ability to follow established procedures to ensure data accuracy and compliance in support of the employee life cycle.
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.

Advertised Salary
Up to $55,000 per year based upon experience
