Full Job Description

Job Title: Furniture Woodworker

Location: Bloomington, Indiana, Workshop with Air Conditioning and Heating. Small, Friendly Team

Hours: 40 hours/week, flexible shift any time between 8am–6PM on weekdays

Position Overview: We’re seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Woodworking Assistant to join our small team in an air-conditioned and heated workshop. The Iron Roots Designs is a small but established high end furniture manufacturing company that crafts minimalist furniture and lamps from solid hardwood. We are looking for someone with woodworking experience that will be involved in most steps of the custom furniture production process. We are looking for someone who likes to learn and is interested in growing with the company over the years. Tasks will vary, but you must be proficient with miter saw, jointer, table saw, planer, wood glue and clamps, and drills.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys independently working with their hands, learning new skills, and has an interest in the art of furniture making, and contributing to high-quality craftsmanship.

About The Iron Roots Designs: The Iron Roots Designs is a custom furniture and lamp manufacturing company based in Bloomington, Indiana. Our minimalist products are built by hand from solid hardwood using sustainable woodworking techniques. Orders are placed on our website from interior designers, architects, and everyday customers. As our furniture is made to order, customers can customize the dimensions of a piece. Often, we have larger orders such as outfitting a full restaurant or a building’s lobby. Key Responsibilities:

Learn to build our furniture designs in custom dimensions from start to finish.
Sand furniture pieces to create smooth surfaces
Apply an oil finish to products prior to final assembly
Assemble wood products with precision and care
Work independently while staying on task and meeting deadline

Requirements:

Ability to regularly lift 25–60 lbs
Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
Can work well independently and maintain focus
Comfortable using woodworking tools and equipment
Fast learner with good communication and organizational skills
Keep a tidy working space

Required Qualifications:

At least 2 years experience in woodworking or fabrication

Compensation & Benefits:

Starting wage is $20/ hour
Raises and frequent bonuses to reward excellent performance
Flexible 8 hour shift from between 8AM–6PM
