HEALTH PROMOTION (BA-HPRO-IUBLA)
Job Summary
The Assistant Director for Intervention Services and Recovery Support provides leadership for intervention services, recovery support initiatives, and related health and well-being programs within the Health Promotion department at Indiana University Bloomington.
Department Specific Responsibilities

Responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of evidence-informed intervention services that support student well-being and academic success.

Reports to the Director of Health Promotion, the Assistant Director serves as a member of the Health Promotion leadership team and collaborates with campus and community partners to advance substance use prevention, recovery support, and harm reduction initiatives.
- Provides clinical expertise, oversees daily operations of intervention services, supervises practicum students, and contributes to departmental strategic planning and continuous quality improvement efforts.

Manages and coordinates the daily operations of intervention services, including intake, referral processes, scheduling, case management, and service delivery.

Maintains a primary caseload of students referred through self-referral, Student Conduct, Residential Life, academic units, and other campus partners.

Maintains accurate clinical documentation and records in accordance with university policies, professional standards, and applicable regulations.

Monitors intervention services utilization, identify service trends, and recommend improvements to enhance program effectiveness.

Coordinates intervention services with campus partners and referral sources.

Assists in the preparation and writing of the University's Biennial Review Report and other required institutional reports.

Conducts screenings, assessments, and brief interventions utilizing evidence-based approaches, including motivational interviewing and harm reduction strategies.

Develops individualized action plans and recommendations that support student well-being, behavior change, and academic success.

Facilitates referrals to campus and community resources as appropriate.

Maintains appropriate clinical documentation and records.

Provides consultation to students, families, faculty, and staff regarding intervention and recovery support resources.

Provides supervision and training for practicum students, interns, and professional staff.

Assists in the development and coordination of practicum and internship experiences.

Delivers educational presentations and trainings to students, faculty, and staff.

Participates in outreach initiatives that promote help-seeking, recovery support, and student well-being.

Serves as a member of the Health Promotion leadership team.

Participates in Health Promotion planning, assessment, and program development activities.

Collaborates with Student Conduct, Residential Life, Counseling and Psychological Services, Athletics, the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life, Dean of Students, and other campus partners.

Chairs or co-chair committees, task forces, and coalitions as assigned, including initiatives related to substance use prevention and recovery support.
General Responsibilities

Conducts individual intake assessments.
-
Provides direct clinical mental health services to individuals, groups, and couples.

Manages individual caseload so as to be able to incorporate new clients in an ongoing manner.

Maintains accurate, timely clinical notes, following Quality Improvement committee standards.

Adheres to relevant ethical and legal standards of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), relevant professional bodies, and state boards.

Consults with and refers to other professionals when appropriate (e.g. psychiatrists, medical providers, and dietitians).

Utilizes evidence-based clinical interventions and, as appropriate, document in clinical notes.

Serves on emergency response teams.

Participates in active educational outreach programs.

May supervise Master's level mental health students and/or career-level Mental Health Specialists.

Possesses ability and competencies to act independently, as a licensed mental health professional, in the provision of clinical services.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required
-
Master's degree in relevant mental heath area from an accredited program.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
-
4 years of post-degree experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required
-
Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Indiana or license eligible upon date of hire. OR
-
Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Indiana or license eligible upon date of hire. OR
-
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Indiana or license eligible upon date of hire.
SKILLS
Required
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires sedentary work as well as extended durations of moving about the workplace. It requires the ability to move objects and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and the ability to discern between various objects and devices and to position patients. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Work Location
Indiana University Bloomington.
This is an in person position.
Advertised Salary
$72,000.00 - $76,000.00 on an annualized basis.
Work Hours
Standard office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.
This position may require some evenings and weekends.
