Overview
Join our dynamic newsroom as a Newspaper Copy Editor and Content Creator for the Second Shift, where your keen eye for detail and passion for storytelling will shape the daily news landscape. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for editing and refining content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to style guidelines while creating engaging multimedia content that resonates with our diverse audience. Your creativity and precision will help deliver compelling stories that inform, entertain, and inspire our community every evening.

Responsibilities

Edit and proofread articles for grammar, style, factual accuracy, and clarity using AP style guidelines.
Fact-check information to maintain journalistic integrity and credibility.
Write engaging headlines, captions, and social media posts to promote stories across platforms.
Create multimedia content including photography, videography, and short videos to enhance storytelling.
Collaborate with reporters, photographers, videographers, and designers to produce polished content for print and digital formats.
Manage social media accounts by scheduling posts, engaging with followers, and analyzing performance metrics.
Conduct research on various topics to support story development and ensure comprehensive coverage.

Skills

Strong knowledge of AP style, journalism principles, and fact-checking procedures.
Proficiency in photography, videography (including video production and editing), and social media management tools.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly convey ideas through writing and multimedia formats.
Bilingual abilities are a plus to connect with a broader audience.
Experience in copy editing, proofreading, research, and copywriting to produce accurate and compelling content.
Ability to work efficiently during evening hours while managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Creative mindset with a keen eye for visual storytelling through photography and videography. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your journalism skills while contributing to a vibrant news organization committed to delivering high-quality content that informs and engages our community every second shift.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
