Full Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Commercial Loan Underwriter is responsible for reviewing documentation for Commercial Loan applications and perform thorough analysis of financial and credit information to determine viability of request within the parameters of established policies and procedures and applicable regulatory guidance. Analyze balance sheets, personal financial statements, tax returns, income statements, cash flow statements, and other information using trend, ratio, leverage, projection, and stress techniques to determine adequacy of repayment sources. Review appropriate documents to determine viability of proposed collateral, including appraisals and other evaluations, leases, and title reports. Provide leadership, guidance and training to Underwriting personnel. Take the lead with the analysis of large and/or complex credits. The diligent execution of this position is expected to contribute to the accomplishment of the department's short and long-term goals. Performs duties in compliance with regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform thorough analysis of all credit, financial, and cash flow information to determine viability of repayment for all commercial loan requests.
Determine Borrower and Guarantor character and creditworthiness utilizing information from various sources including personal and business credit reports, legal forums, publications, and internet sources.
Review and analyze legal documents such as wills, trusts, corporation articles and by-laws, partnership agreements, and related documents.
Evaluate collateral adequacy using appraisal reports, environmental studies, title reports, UCC searches, leases, and market data.
Assess repayment ability using in-depth financial analysis including cash flow, ratios, leverage, projections, and stress testing.
Review loan documents for accuracy prior to closing and after execution.
Maintain knowledge of loan policy, procedures, and regulatory guidance.
Assist Loan Officers with annual loan reviews.

Other Responsibilities:

· Performs job duties in accordance with policies established by the Board of Directors under the rules and regulations set by the National Credit Union Administration, the State of Florida, and any applicable State laws for financial centers located in other States.

· Complies with Reg E, BSA, OFAC, and CIP requirements such as reporting suspicious or unusual activity to manager.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

· Knowledge of loan products and services.

· Superior communication, interpersonal judgment, and negotiation skills.

· Solid analytical mathematical skills.

· Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends when deemed necessary.

· Ability to work with computers and various software applications.

· Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and staff.

· Ability to provide consistently courteous, positive member service and foster the credit union’s core values.

· Thorough knowledge of credit reporting to correctly analyze lending situations.

· Ability to complete in-class and online training as required by law or by the credit union.

· Possess competency and familiarity with Credit Union lending products and services to provide accurate and timely information.

· Remain current in all applicable laws and regulations and ensure Fair Credit practices are followed.

· Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in finance, business or a related field or equivalent experience.

· A minimum of 5+ years of experience with commercial underwriting or credit analysis experience.

· Skills – Advanced financial analysis, credit evaluation, communication, and decision-making skills; knowledge of lending regulations and compliance requirements.

Pay: $42.00 - $52.00 per hour
