Position Overview
Florida Physician Group, a member of HSA Hospitals (Hospital Systems of America), is seeking a General Surgeon to join our surgical services program at the hospital in South Florida. Key Responsibilities
-
Perform preoperative evaluations, including history, physical examination, diagnostic interpretation, and risk assessment for surgical candidates.

Perform general surgical procedures (e.g., hernia repair, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, bowel resection, softtissue procedures, and selected laparoscopic cases) within credentialed scope and training.

Provide emergency and oncall coverage for acute surgical conditions and trauma as assigned by the department.

Manage perioperative care, including admission, inpatient rounds, postoperative management, and discharge planning.

Collaborate with anesthesia, critical care, nursing, and ancillary services to optimize patient outcomes and ensure coordinated care.

Ensure accurate documentation and timely completion of operative notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries in the electronic medical record.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality conferences, and compliance activities.

Provide education and supervision to residents, advanced practice providers, and other learners as applicable.

Comply with hospital bylaws, departmental policies, and professional practice standards.

Perform other surgery-related duties as requested in support of the service line and hospital mission.
QualificationsSkills
-
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) with completion of an ACGMEaccredited General Surgery residency.

Board eligible or board certified in General Surgery.

Current, unrestricted state medical license (or eligibility) and DEA registration.

BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications as required by the facility or trauma designation.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment.
