Pennbridge Hospitality is seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Assistant Chief Engineer to join the team at the AC Hotel & Element Downtown Boise, a 296-room dual-branded Marriott property located in the heart of downtown Boise.
Our modern dual-branded hotel features upscale accommodations, flexible extended-stay suites, and The Boise Post, our rooftop restaurant and bar offering incredible views of the city. We are looking for a dedicated engineering professional who is passionate about maintaining exceptional facilities, leading a strong team, and delivering an outstanding guest experience.
Position Summary
The Assistant Chief Engineer plays a critical leadership role by supporting the Chief Engineer in overseeing all engineering and maintenance operations throughout the property. This position is responsible for helping maintain the safety, appearance, and functionality of all guest rooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and building systems.
The ideal candidate is technically skilled, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment. As a dual-branded Marriott property, this role requires a strong understanding of hotel operations while maintaining both AC Hotel and Element brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Engineer in overseeing daily engineering operations
- Supervise, train, and support the engineering team
- Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs
- Assist with scheduling, inventory management, and departmental budgeting
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Perform and oversee general building repairs, including drywall, painting, flooring, and tile work
- Maintain life safety systems and ensure compliance with local, state, and Marriott brand standards
- Coordinate repairs and projects with outside vendors and contractors
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance requests
- Assist with Marriott brand inspections, audits, and property improvement initiatives
- Ensure all AC Hotel and Element brand standards are consistently maintained
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of hotel engineering or facilities maintenance experience required
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Experience in a full-service or dual-branded hotel environment is a plus
- HVAC certification preferred
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems
- Experience implementing and managing preventative maintenance programs
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Experience maintaining spa or aquatic systems is preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds independently
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, reach overhead, and navigate stairs frequently
- Ability to respond quickly to emergency maintenance situations

Salary Range: $55,000–$60,000 annually
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
