Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our team in providing exceptional care to our patients in various settings. As a Medication Technician, you will play a vital role in assisting with medication management, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and upholding the highest standards of patient care.

Responsibilities

- Administer medications as prescribed by physicians and ensure accurate recording of medication administration.
- Assist with medication management, including ordering and stocking medications, and conducting medication counts.
- Provide basic care and assistance to patients, including bathing, dressing, and toileting.
- Monitor patient vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation, and report any changes to nursing staff.
- Assist with medical records, including documenting patient information and medication administration.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure patient care is delivered in accordance with established standards and policies.
- Participate in home care, hospice care, and nursing home settings, and adapt to different patient populations and care settings.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of patients' medical conditions, including anatomy and physiology.
- Uphold HIPAA guidelines and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Utilize electronic medical records, including Epic, to access patient information and document medication administration.
- Demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality care and promoting patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a state-approved medication technician training program or equivalent.
- Current certification as a Medication Technician (MT) or Certified Medication Technician (CMT).
- Experience working in a medical office, nursing home, or home care setting.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records, including Epic.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Adherence to HIPAA guidelines and a commitment to patient confidentiality.
- Willingness to work in various patient care settings, including hospice care and home community care.
