About Us:
Mid‑Iowa Cooperative and Mid‑Iowa Milling operate seventeen grain facilities and seven full‑service feed mill locations through Mid‑Iowa Milling, LLC. The cooperative offers a variety of positions across these locations, including roles such as a grain settlement coordinator, who manages contracts, payments, and inventory, and a grain originator, who provides marketing services, crop insurance, and brokerage support. They also employ regional managers who oversee grain operations, accounting staff, as well as feed mill operators, assistants, and delivery drivers to support the milling division, along with CDL truck drivers for hauling grain and feed.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused CDL Driver for feed operations to join our team. This position is responsible for the long-haul transportation of goods across designated routes, ensuring timely and secure delivery. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong driving skills, a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance, and the ability to manage routes efficiently while providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Load and unload cargo as required, ensuring proper handling and securement to prevent damage during transit.
- Safely transport loads (up to a gross weight of 80,000 lbs.) to designated locations in a timely and efficient manner.
- Deliver feed to the correct farm and bin number according to delivery instructions.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, functionality, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and cargo details in accordance with regulations.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS and maps while managing time effectively.
- Communicate with dispatch regarding schedules, delays, or any issues encountered on the road.
- Report, clean up, and properly dispose of feed spills in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain a professional company image on the road and at delivery sites, including proper customer service, equipment care, and appearance.
- Report any customer concerns or delivery issues promptly.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED with mechanical maintenance experience in industrial, agricultural, or manufacturing environments.
- Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting, and in confined spaces.
- Valid (Class A) CDL (with Air Brakes Endorsement) and good driving record.
- Successful completion of DOT Physical and Drug Screen.
- Ability to handle “on the road” situations that develop from time to time (mud, snow, ice).
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50–75 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
- Ability to climb ladders regularly and work safely at heights up to 15 feet.
- Ability to navigate stairs, ladders, and grain bins as part of daily duties.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and outdoor weather conditions.
