R&D Technologist
Position Summary
Under supervision, learns to perform basic purification procedures and routine gel techniques and gain an understanding of protein fundamentals to prepare high quality products at Nittobo America Inc. as assigned. All duties are performed in a manner consistent with the goals and policies of the company, as well as in compliance with ISO standards where applicable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs filtering, concentrating, and buffer exchanging.
- Utilizes chromatographic (i.e., SEC, IEC, affinity) or protein precipitation (salt, polymer,
- affinity) methods to accomplish purifications, gel conjugation.
- Uses immune- or electrophoretic methods to determine purity of antigens and/or antibodies.
- Maintains accurate documents of experimental methods and results for use in preparing
- procedures and reports.
- Analyzes, records and reports data and information.
- Analyzes by-products of purifications for use as affinity materials in R&D or manufacturing
- departments.
- Prepares affinity matrices for use by R&D or manufacturing.
- Evaluates antisera and/or antigens for use in development of clean-up fractions and/or columns.
- Maintains instrumentation and calibration records.
- Maintains adequate quantities of routine equipment and supplies.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
POSITIONS REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree (B.S) from four-year college or university in immunology, biochemistry, chemistry, or life science; and 3 years of on-the-job, hands on experience, in addition to college labs or equivalent combination of education and experience. Chromatography experience preferred.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on and on-going basis without sponsorship.
